The Italian's eventually began to warm up to Napoleon, but his rule did not last as Italy was later ruled by many other well liked leaders. All which took great part in Italy's unification.

Napoleon invaded Italy and created the Kingdom of Italy, but was defeated. This caused Italy to return to independent states, until 1848 when revolutions passed through Europe. The first attempt at war for independence had failed but did not stop the rebellions. Garibaldi's goal of invading Sicily and moving into Rome was prevented by Victor Emmanuel, who he transferred his conquests over to. The kingdom of Italy was proclaimed, but still lacked two states. Although Italy was defeated by Austria, they had agreed to give Venice to Italy. The French's defeat at the Franco Prussian war allowed Italy to gain Rome, which was declared the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. The continued to form alliances, but faced many cultural challenges over time.

Ecuador's economy relied heavily on textiles, trade, and shipping. Tough times in Spain brought severe misery to Ecuador throughout the eighteenth century. Manufacture, production, and economy began to fail, but Enlightenment ideas sparked a beginning for Ecuador's independence.

People from the north began to move into Ecuador and gradually, several cultures developed across the land. A clash of different cultures caused fighting and trading to take place. The Incan empire invaded Ecuador in 1463, eventually conquering a majority of it. Incan ruling was not favored by many of the people living in Ecuador. In the 1530's the Spanish made their way into Ecuador and defeated the Inca, which made the people much happier. Spain's culture and and language spread throughout Ecuador. In time, Ecuador joined the other colonies and began fighting for its independence against Spain in the 19th century. Ecuador gained its independence in 1830.
