Although Italy was defeated by Austria, they had agreed to give Venice to Italy. The French's defeat at the Franco Prussian war allowed Italy to gain Rome, which was declared the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. A clash of different cultures caused fighting and trading to take place. The Incan empire invaded Ecuador in 1463, eventually conquering a majority of it. Incan ruling was not favored by many of the people living in Ecuador. In the 1530's the Spanish made their way into Ecuador and defeated the Inca, which made the people much happier. Spain's culture and and language spread throughout Ecuador. In time, Ecuador joined the other colonies and began fighting for its independence against Spain in the 19th century.
