Throughout the play, the truth is presented through atmospheric changes that take place within the scenes of character interaction. During scenes wherein the atmosphere is cheerful (usually when Helmer is present with Nora), deception lingers through the setting, and artifice is manifested through Nora's subservient characterization. In contrast, when the atmosphere is bleaker (interactions between Nora and Krogstad), Nora's true personality is revealed, and she states the truth.

In essence, one way in which the truth is presented is through the means of entrances and exits. When characters such as Krogstad - a symbol of depravity - enters into the house, the atmosphere is somber - and Nora is almost imposed of a duty to tell the truth.

Another way in which the truth is presented can be seen through the symbolism of the hallway. The hallway serves as a pathway for truth to permeate through the realm of restrained/artificial domesticity. Hence, when characters enter this hall, the truth is inevitably presented through the interactions that take place between Nora and these characters. For instance, Mrs. Linde always enters the house from the outside. That being said, Nora is also typically very honest and transparent with Mrs. Linde. Thus, the truth is typically presented when Mrs. Linde enters through the hall.

An interesting detail is the juxtaposition between the outside world and the house. The home - a symbol of coziness and warmth - exhibits deception, whereas the outside world - a symbol of harsh, cold environments - represents the ugly truth that is transmitted into the house through these characters.

The use of props to represent truth:
When Rank told Nora how he feels about her, she told the maid to bring the lamp and ask Rank if he feels ashamed now that the lamp's come in. The use of prop, the lamp, was use to represent the truth was brought into the light and the character response to the truth being reviewed.

The decorations on the Christmas tree are the representation of lies covering up the truth. At the beginning, Nora hides the Christmas tree as it has not been decorated and she spends a lot of time and effort to make the decorations. Just like how she hides the true self and create of an image of a doll wife for Torvald. The Christmas is described as stripped and disheveled which represents foreshadows Nora's secret being reviewed.

The role of the tarantella dance to represent truth:
The tarantella is practiced as a courtship dance with teasing and flirtatious behaviour between the partners. The dance represents the relationship between Torvald and Nora. Tarantella dance's origin is connected with tarantism, a disease from a bite of the tarantula spider and the dance was believed how one were cured. The practice of the dance contrast the origin similar to the 'performance' Nora puts on for Torvald that builds their relationship. But her motivation is to distract Torvald from reading the letter, from the truth. The truth is like the poison from the bite of the tarantula spider and she is dancing to cure herself of it. The representation of the truth is the contrast between the practice and the origin of the tarantella dance.

How is truth presented in Act 2 of A Doll's House?

Nora's lies are revealed throughout act 2 such as the forgery of the signature. She also reveals to Mrs. Linde that Krogstad lent her the money.
The letter is a symbol of truth as it reveals Nora's secret to Mrs. Linde. The emotions Nora presents towards the letter embody the distress and restriction women face in the patriarchal society. This shows that women, such as Nora, feel they need to lie in order to maintain respectability.

Entrances and exits
They enhance truths and lies as certain characters, especially Nora's reactions and attitude change when other characters enter the room. For example, at the beginning of act 2 Nora starts by expressing how worry she is about her children, but when the maid enters she starts talking about the dance. This shows that Nora is being dishonest about her feelings.

Tarantella
Dance to remove the poison of a spider bite - Nora tries to diminish or hide the poisonous lies that are destroying her family.

Tarantella dance and how it represents truth

We thought how Tarantella sounds a bit like tarantula. Since the tarantula is venomous, it represents that Nora is dancing a dangerous dance, mainly not telling Torvald the truth about the money that was acquired
for his trip and 'dancing' around him, acting naive and innocent. But when Torvald tells her that lying and forgery is poisonous and can spread to effect your family and kids, Nora draws away from her kids because she knows she is poisonous for her family and kids

In act 1 the Christmas tree helps represent the warmth and love within the family. Christmas is often associated with family and love, therefore the Christmas tree symbolizes the perfect happy family. In 1800's Norway the ideal family was of middle class, therefore families tried to show off this respectable position through decor and physical attributes. The Christmas tree helps tie in with this perfect image. However, later on at the beginning of act 2, the Christmas tree is disheveled and no longer demonstrates warmth and happiness.

The change in appearance of the Christmas tree represents the deterioration of the atmosphere of the family. The warmth and love presented in act 1, enhanced by the Christmas spirit, presents Nora as a joyful and loving mother. However, by beginning of act 2, Nora's secret is known to the audience and the change in mood surrounding her character is symbolized by the untidy appearance of the Christmas tree.

The decorations of the Christmas tree demolish and represent how Nora is distracted and no longer cares for the household. Instead her focus is on maintaining respectability and hoping for the miracle. This represents how pride and reputation overrules love and family

The deterioration and "disheveling" state of the Christmas tree is symbolic to that of Nora's state of mind. As the play progresses, the Christmas tree is unraveled of its decorations - analogous to that of Nora's artificial facade, which slowly starts to reveal.
Additionally, Christmas trees are often associated to prospects of rebirth. That being said, the Christmas tree is analogous to the plot of the play: Nora regains her sense of individuality through a process of revelation
