Last Friday, my group and I had our consultation on the green activity that we need to conduct for the Usrah in Action course I take this year. After the discussion with our instructor, I realized that a lot of things needed to be considered when planning an activity especially when we decided to shed light on current environmental issues and the sustainable development goals as we are not far off from the year 2030 where it is hoped that by then the world is able to achieve it.

I also find it fascinating when the instructor mentioned that we need to adopt the whole community and continue to be engaged with them. I think it will be very interesting to be able to be a part of a community when I am away from home. I also think that it will be an amazing experience to go and meet new people despite my shy nature. Anyway, I cannot wait to realize the idea that we have been planning.

On Friday April 1️⃣5️⃣th, my lecturer👩‍🏫👩‍🏫 asked me 🧕 and my friends 🧕🏻🧕🏻🧕🏻 to make a reflective journal 📝about our project. The topic of our project is working from home 🏠. As we all know when 🦠 covid -19 hit the world🌍, the way of working such as working from home 🏠 was introduced and implemented almost all over the country 🇲🇾 and world 🌍. As we know, working from home is good for the environment 🏞️ such as we can save energy⚡ and reduce the risk of pollution💨. From this topic we can encourage our community 🏘️to contribute in creating a sustainable world  ♻️🌍 by working from home🏠. 

First, I think the things that could have happened in our project is people of the community might get chances to working from  🏡 in the right way✔️. Next, the things that I feel might be a challenge🤯 is to get the interview  with the community, it means what if the community do not want to cooperate with us. So basically, for this problem  the things that I can do to prepare for these experiences are, I need to improve my communication skill 🗣️like how I want to approach them in an appropriate way😊. I am too afraid that our project will not go smoothly according to His will, what will happen next? This semester, I had registered a subject called Usrah in Action as one of my subjects. Throughout this semester, my respective  lecturers have instructed me and my classmates to work on a project that involves the community. The topic of our project is working from home. So, on April 15th, my group and I had a consultation session with our lecturer and Alhamdulillah she agreed with our ideas. Afterwards, she asked us to create a journal reflective about the project assigned to us. The ideas of this project that we have in mind now are to open the minds of this community about the importance of working from home especially when we are still struggling with the covid-19 virus. In addition, the project also involves the theme of going green. So, in line with the title we have chosen, working from home can guarantee the environment and we can also achieve sustainable development goals. Still, will the targeted community accept our ideas and projects with an open heart? Let's just hope for the best. Aamiin.

I would like to share my experience preparing for our Usrah in Action community project titled “Working from Home”. 

Fyi, my group and I have prepared 2 proposals because the first proposal was not accurate to the objectives🫠. It's a relief that the second one was approved, but yes, I am sure there are things that we need to improve. 

I am actually looking forward to engaging with our community through this project👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. However, there are some things that worried me, like what if we lack support from the community since our title itself is ‘working from HOME’. How can we make them interested to participate and give their support to us? But over time, after consultations and discussions, I am positive it will be a success. Insyaallah💕. After all, we are still in the preparation phase and we work in a group, it should be okay🤍.

Last Wednesday, we were informed that we will be conducting the community profiling for the first time. If I can be completely honest, I was caught off guard when the announcement was made. I do not think that I am well prepared to meet the people of the community as I am an introvert, despite so I will do my best during the day we visit the community. I also have concerns regarding the number of responses that we will be able to collect by the end of the profiling since the location was changed from a residential area to a village. So, I am not sure if we will be able to get 30 responses. But that’s okay, InshaAllah, Allah will ease our journey. Today me and my friends today me and my friend went down to Sungai Salak village in north Gombak village to do community profiling for the first time. We were required to interview at least 30 villagers about the way they work such as working from 🏠 or working at office but we can only interview 14 villagers only. Most of the villagers we interviewed each had jobs such as teachers👩‍🏫, contractors👷, auxiliary police👮, security guards, chef at nurseries👩‍🍳, businessmen, working at cake shops 🎂and babysitters👶 and housewives. Based on the activities carried out today, I have gained a very valuable experience because this is the first time I interviewed the villagers and met with the community with various backgrounds. I am a shy person 🤗 but today I was able to overcome my shyness, and I am quite proud 😎 of myself for today’s achievement. Unfortunately, from our observation there were a lot of trash in the river due to the improper waste disposal, so I hope we will be able to encourage people to keep the water clean when they are aware of the benefits of working from home to the environment. I also hope me and my friends from section 17 can make this Usrah In Action project a success💯✨.

So, on Monday we finally went for our first community profiling. I cannot deny it, it was very nerve wrecking and I had a hard time adjusting but I think we did quite well despite a few setbacks that we faced. Unfortunately, we were not able to achieve the targeted number of respondents that we need but still I feel like we did a very good job. I know that due to our lack of experience we were not able to execute our plan smoothly and I think that what we did just show us what we are lacking as well as what we need to improve in the future. However, I still feel that it is a very good experience since we met a lot of people and was able to know a little bit about them. I enjoyed it a lot! It's me Haifa. 2 weeks ago, our instructors finally announced the date for our first face-to-face meeting where we will do our community profiling😀 on 6th June 2022. I was so surprised and excited because this is what I'm waiting for. However, not long after, I realised it was the day after my Hajj flight! I am unable to join them😓. I am in Madinah🌼Last 2 days was the day when my groupmates went for community profiling. It looks like they have made a wonderful memory. Even though they were unable to achieve the targeted number of respondents which is 30 respondents, by only succeed to interview 14 villagers, I am sure they have put so much effort and have done well. It should be a good experience for them as it surely is the starting point where they improve themselves on how to be confident, communicate with someone they did not know and what is the best approach to interview people. Today is the dayy!! Alhamdulillah I'm very happy because for the first time, my friends and I went to Batu 10 Sungai Salak, Gombak for our community profiling. From this activity, we improve our communication skill to interview the villagers due to our project 'Working from Home'. Most of them have jobs in office like teacher, security guard, nurse, auxiliary police, chef and contractors, but some of them are working from home as a businesswomen, babysitters, housewives and mechanic. From here, I learned how hard it is for parents to gain nafkah to support their family and go through many challenges. Overall,  I enjoyed it a lot and I will miss this moment!! I hope our project successfully conducted next semester by the grant of Allah.
