Thanks for sharing your video, I wanna give you some comments:

1. How would you advise your peer to handle that situation?

First of all, I suggest that you do not feel bad about what happened, take that situation calmly and as an incident that helped you reflect on how you are doing your work and what aspects you should change to align with the students' learning objective. I agree with you about increasing attractive resources for classes, and I also suggest that at the beginning of each class you announce what will be developed during it so that students feel inspired in each exercise.

2. What do you think your peer learned from this critical incident?

Surely he learned the importance of planning and the need to make classes more interactive. An incident like this leads to the realization that it is not enough to transmit information, but it is necessary to capture the attention of students and maintain it. Diversity in the ways of teaching is essential to address the different ways in which students learn and feel motivated. Our colleague Luis was also able to learn that it is essential to be flexible and adapt to the interests and needs of the students.

3. After reflecting on their critical incident, would you react differently if it happened to you? Why or why not?

This has not happened to me but possibly I would have reacted in a similar way in terms of reflecting on the need to be more dynamic in my classes, but I would try to maintain a more preventive attitude. In my case, I would try to carry out a test on those students who register for my class in advance to see what topics we can address in the next class, in addition to including digital resources such as games, open and closed questions, competitions or other types of things. I would also ask students for feedback to detect possible improvements before a problem arises. I would also focus on designing classes that mix theory and practice so that they can apply what they learn.

By: Sonia Ximena

Here I share my opinions about your video.

How would you advise your peer to handle that situation?

I think you were on point with your response to the situation. You correctly switched the mood of the class by making it more engaging and allowing the students to participate in it. I will suggest you ask many questions during your expositions this also helps keeping the students engaged.

What do you think tour peer learned from this critical incident?

I think she learned that online classes require specific tools of engagement to make sure that the students keep interest in the class. She recognized that in virtual environments the monotony that sometimes characterizes physical classrooms becomes an even bigger obstacle when making sure students keep being engaged in the class. Additionally I think she learned that a change in the dynamics of the class can be a tool to regulate students engagement and disposition.

After reflecting on their critical incident, would you react differently if it happened to you? Why or why not?

I think it depends on whether I was prepared with a game like activity that I could have used to increase student engagement in the class. If I have had one I would have used it in the same way that she did, however I probably would have called out the student that was disengaged and questioned him about the topic, then told him to pay attention, then finish my exposition and only then I would have used the game activity.

By Carlos Santiago Villarreal

I share my contributions to the video of comrade Sonia

1. How would you advise your peer to handle that situation?

I would recommend that classmate Sonia document with the classroom teacher to determine what level the student is at and what skills she has developed to understand the topics of study.

These are situations that can occur in the classroom, so before working with a group of students it is recommended to know the particularity of each one because they can arise, as in this case, something physical can also be something psychological. As a teacher, you must be prepared for any eventuality.

2. What do you think your peer learned from this critical incident?

When the teacher enters a classroom, during the development of the classes, there may be critical moments that must be approached with professionalism.

As teachers, we must be prepared so that at any time of the class we take the initiative and implement strategies to overcome the problems that arise without affecting the school environment.

3. After reflecting on their critical incident, would you react differently if it happened to you? Why or why not?

The truth is that I would react similarly to my classmate Sonia, and I would focus on finding the best solution for the student. Because it allows me to value and integrate classmates with disabilities to develop their other skills to achieve the objectives planned in class.

Regards,

Luis Fernando Laguna R.

This is my opinion about your video

1. How would you advise your partner to handle this situation?

I would advise my partner to handle the situation with patience and empathy. It is important to understand that lack of practice can lead to these lapses, so it is essential to take up the topic with an effective review is a good strategy and to incorporate more dynamic activities in future lessons to reinforce the use of indefinite articles.

2. What do you think your peer learned from this critical incident?

I think he managed to learn about the importance of adapting his teaching methods when this type of learning-related situations arise and the need to provide continuous feedback and constant practice so that students reinforce prior knowledge and do not forget it easily.

3. After reflecting on their critical incident, would you react differently if it happened to you? Why or why not?

I think I would react in a similar way, since reviewing the topic was a good decision. However, you could do an analysis of the causes that led to the forgetfulness, such as assessing whether students have other areas in which they also have difficulties due to lack of practice and incorporating new pedagogical strategies, such as interactive activities, to make the review more meaningful.

Good job!

By: Halila Rodriguez Alvarez

Dear Santiago Villarreal.

These are my contributions about your video.

1.How would you advise your peer to handle that situation?

I think that the way professor Santiago handled the situation was good since he analyzed the chaos and was able to realize that what was happening was because they were used to doing things normally, that is, apparently the students could substitute English classes to look at math. However, I would advise the partner to have done a little motivation where he will show them the importance of learning English.

2. What do you think your peer learned from this critical incident?

I think that the colleague learned that in all institutions they manage a different study plan and that some are more flexible than others, but what is really worth it is the way in which he knows how to handle this type of events and the excellent way he has to teach English.

3. After reflecting on their critical incident, would you react differently if it happened to you? Why or why not?

I would react in the same way as my colleague, I would simply add a small reflection about the importance of English. However, I think what he did was very good!

By: Yohana Estefanía Hoyos Muñoz
