         <description><![CDATA[<p>We cannot use the contraction or short form (e.g. can't, I'm, didn't, shouldn't) in our "normal sentences" in continuous writing.  They should only be used in direct speech, enclosed within the quotation marks as they are considered to be informal.  </p><p>Example: </p><p>Father admitted that he <mark>had not</mark> taken the rubbish out.  (spell out in full) </p><p><br></p><p>My father admitted, <mark>"</mark>I <mark>haven't</mark> taken the rubbish out.<mark>"</mark>   (can use contraction as it is in quotation marks and spoken by someone)</p>]]></description>
