Women, illiterate people, and indigeniuos communitites were excluded for many years. I was only after long struggles and social movements that all Peruvians gained equal voting rights.

Today, voting is a obligation's Peruvians in the country, but many people still feel disconnected from politics or vote without really knowing the candidates. It makes us reflect, should voting be only for the most prepared or how do we prepare the population to vote?

I agree with this quote because people can make bad choices when they vote. Sometimes they choose a leader who makes bad decisions. These decisions can hurt the country, the economy, or the people. A good example is Venezuela. People voted for Nicolás Maduro, but after that, the country got worse. There was no food or medicine. The economy went down. Many people suffered.

Voting is personal — everyone chooses the candidate they like or feel connected to. But sometimes people vote just because someone is funny, religious, shares their ideas, or has a popular name. That’s not responsible voting.

I agree with this quote because I think that every year most of the candidates don’t convince everyone. Many times, people feel forced to vote for one person just to stop another from winning. This happened with Keiko more than once.

I find this quote very accurate because it reflects a reality that we often live through without realizing it: we make impulsive decisions, driven by immediate interests or pressure, without thinking about the long-term consequences. A clear example of this happened to me during the election of the director of the School of Mechanical Engineering.

At that time, my classmates and I had very low grades in one of our courses. The professor who taught that course was also part of a political group that was running for the school’s directorship. He told us — not directly, but quite clearly — that if we supported his party with our votes, he would help us pass the course. Many of us saw this as an easy way out, a way to avoid repeating the subject, so we decided to vote for his group.

At first, it seemed like a good decision — we passed the course, and in that moment, we felt relieved. But over time, that decision came back to haunt us. The new director, who got the position in part thanks to our votes, turned out to be the worst the school has ever had. His management was disorganized, authoritarian, and harmful to both the academic and administrative development of the program. Little by little, we realized that in trying to avoid an immediate problem, we had contributed to creating a much bigger and more damaging one.
