Built in 1067, Norwich Castle is one of the oldest castles still in existence in the United Kingdom. William the Conqueror built it after the Norman conquest of England. Like all castles built around the same time, Norwich Castle also served as a garrison and prisoner of war prison. The five most beautiful old castles in England remained, until the middle of the 12th century, the only major royal castle in East Anglia, until the construction of Orford Castle, which Norwich lost.

Dunluce has been described as one of the most picturesque and romantic castles in Northern Ireland. 

It was built around 1500 by the MacQuillan family on a cliff to the sea.
