The damage caused from this event was incredibly unexpected with a huge death toll of 15,894 deaths, 6,152 injured, and 2,562 people missing. This devastated many Japanese residents and tore family's apart with love ones missing, dead, or severely injured. The tsunami was 45.5 meters high, and destroyed everything within reach.

The earthquake was created as the tectonic  plates began to rub against each other releasing huge seismic waves, then building up so much pressure until the plates decided to break, and then the earthquake happened. One minute before the huge magnitude 9 earthquake happened in Tokyo, the early earthquake alarm was set of evacuating everyone. The earthquake affected the sea bed massively, triggering powerful tsunami waves that reached heights of up to 40.5 meters high destroying everything within its vicinity.

There second priority not to much longer after was getting blankets, food, water, and shelter to the people left homeless, and panicked .As well in response to the crisis, the Japanese government assembled  the Self-Defense Forces, while many countries sent search and rescue teams to help search for survivors.

This was super helpful for the Japanese as it was the beginning of winter where the temperature was hitting below 5 degrees Celsius. Many  organizations both in Japan and worldwide also responded, with the Japanese Red Cross reporting $1 billion in donations.

The earth's crust was violently pulled apart leaving damage for years. Scientist found out that the huge japan earthquake managed to speed up the earths rotation making a day last longer.

Houses were destroyed, and many families were ripped apart left homeless, power was down for days, roads ripped and destroyed, people left homeless, buildings fell apart, food and water were gone, and a lot of money was lost. Unfortunately Around 4.4 million households in  Japan were left without electricity, and 1.5 million without fresh water.
