#1 The children create "paper bag poetry". They feel objects inside of a bag without seeing them and describe them. This way, they create their first poems in their own words.

#2 The teacher presents a poem each week. The children discover the poem by looking at sentence strips and doing different activities with them.

3-5

#3 The students read a poem out loud and repeat it in different ways. They have a classroom conversation about the effect it has on the poem.

middle school

#4 The teacher hands out sheets that have the end of a verse at the end of an empty line on them. This way students can write their own poems without having to struggle to find a rhyme.

#5 The students are supposed to find opposite things and use the describing opposite adjectives for their poem. In the middle of the poem needs to be a connection word that fits for both things.
