"Pag-ibig at Lumbay" is made by Filipino Artist named Jonas Dela Cruz.

Delacruz walks us through pictures of the interconnected stories that haunt human existence. In a larger sense, Pag-Ibig at Lumbay uses man's conflicting nature as his muse. Simply simply, each work is a rant against the reality of life as strange beings in strange times.

I chose this Filipino artwork because I'm so impressed by how it was created. And the message of this fisherman's artwork is "the artist's personal journey, and spiritual awakening. In the painting men and fish are locked in an eternal conflict between ignorance and enlightenment, with the fish representing the latter." and also "a small gain is worth more than a large promise."

Spoliarium Contemporary Arts.

Painting is about trying to attract others, trying to make them watch our work for more than a few seconds, trying to make them plunge into and travel through our painting in order to find "things," visual gifts that cannot be hurriedly seen; our focal point, the most important part, the reason that made the viewer.

Spoliarium was the kind of painting that lent itself to the patriotic needs of the Filipinos and on which Rizal and others projected a nationalistic symbolism that helped rouse the filipinos to rise up against the political oppression of their spanish colonizers.

I was particularly drawn to James Sanorjo Jr.'s painting. It illustrates what we refer to as "Bayanihan," which I find interesting. And he was able to convey emotion through this artwork. The artists behind this masterpiece are Archi Oclos and Aleili Ariola which, as they stated, is called "Magsasaka". This mural celebrates the Filipino farmer's work. Street arts are everywhere and something that can easily be seen. If you truly look closely, an artwork is more than just an artwork, it is the meaning behind and the interpretation that counts the most. The "Starry Night" painting by Vincent van Gogh is one of my favorites because it captures the essence of nightfall. The painting shows a clear sky dotted with stars, and a moon that is full but not too bright to be visible. It's a beautiful view that makes me feel like I'm sitting out under the stars myself--and I can imagine how it would feel to be there in person.
