I am looking at the image from the book And Then It's Spring. The image is cut in half. On one side it's rainy and on the other it is sunny. The image has gloomy colors on one side and vivid colors on the other. The facial expression of the boy changes from surprised to unhappy. The focal point for me was the umbrella because it changes positions in the other side of the image. The boy gestures with his head in the 2nd image that he is sad and his clothing is prepared for a rainy day. The setting seems to be in a garden and the objects around him are plants and rain gear. There are three spots of planting and the size of the sun shows how the author wanted to point out the weather. The colors change in the image from being bright to dull and grey.

The image I am looking at is a painting called Portrait of thee zoot suit by Ignacio Gomez. The man is proud, he is looking up at the sky. His hands are in his pockets, and he is leaning slightly to the side. He is wearing a shirt that is bright red, his pants are baggy and black, he has a stylish coat on, and a cross around his neck. He is close to a big city. He is very big compared to everything else. His shirt is very bright red, the sky is changing colors. The sky is red and pink above the city, but near him it is a deep blue. When I see him away from the city, I wonder if he is going to, or away from it. I wonder if he is traveling.

When I see the way the words flow off of the book like a rainbow, it makes me think that the book is full of information that the lady in the picture is very interested in. It almost looks as though the words are going somewhere, possibly into her imagination. I think that the lady is in a city because there are tall buildings behind her. I think that the focal point of this is probably the book/rainbow flow because the person who made this really emphasized it. This painting is beautiful and my eyes are immediately drawn to it.

Jackie played with the Dodgers. When I see the pose Jackie is in I think he's playing baseball in the photo because it looks like he just finished his swing. The background looks like people booing Jackie because of his color of skin.
Jackie's face looks like he is very focused on playing and not listing to the crowd. In the background the older people look like they're yelling and booing but the younger kids look like there smiling. The colors are very interesting Jackie is the only one in color and the background is black and white. This also has to do with the focal point they want you to see Jackie and not the background.

Jackie Robinson was the first African man to play in the high level MLB. Even though he had extreme talent, many people went against the thought of having an African play with white people. In this portrait my focal point is Jackie's confident look, staring off with pride. In the setting, you see the entire crowd discriminating against him, But that didn't shake him. I see this as a very powerful piece that was painted with Jackie Robison's passion in mind. I can't help myself to wonder about the artist of the painting. does he share a love of baseball like Jackie? Or was he on the other side of the story; discrimination.

When I see the way that Robinson it makes me think that he has just hit the ball, and is getting ready to run. When I see how the crowd is looking at him, it makes me think that they are dissaproving of what he has done. It could be that he has hit a home run and they are rooting for the opposite team. However. some people are happy. This leads me to beleive that he has just hit a home run, but thay are playing away, so most of the fans are displeased.

When I see the facial expressions of the people of the stands it makes me wonder why some people looked happy that a African American was playing baseball, some people looked angry, and some people just watched in disbelief. Using my background knowledge I can infer that a lot of people (mostly whites that were frowning ) were not happy with the fact that Jackie was playing baseball and were still with the Idea of segregation. When I look at the people in the background that were smiling it makes me think that they were happy about the fact that Jackie was able to play baseball. When I look at the people in the background staring in disbelief I think that they are still stunned that an African American was allowed the right to play baseball. In conclusion by anilizing the portrait I can infer that back then people had conflicting feelings about blacks playing major league baseball.

The Story of Art Within a Painting
When I see Jackie Robinson I see the history of civil rights and the future of black people on his back. When I see the crowd of all the different facial expressions behind Jackie I wonder why the people were not all happy because the black community is just as good or even better at sports than the white community. When I see those faces behind Jackie I see people in aww that he was brave and took the first step to be the first African American in the major league and I think that because of this he was a person that left a legacy for many people to come. When I see Jackie Robinson I don't just see him but I see all the people who came before him and the people after him who were the first people to make a change in the world. In Conclusion, the painting shares a concept more than the faces in the crowd and Jackie Robinson.

When I see how other kids are banging on drums and having a good time and how the other little girl with the man by her is not, I think that the older man is the girls father and doesn't want his child to be a part of this group and play the drums. When I see where the sun is in the sky, and what color the sky is, it makes me think the girl is late for dinner or something else that her family does, so her father is upset with her and wants her back away from the other kids who may be keeping the girl away from her family because of the girls love for drums.

When I see how he has his hands in his pockets, it makes me think he feels relaxed and not threatened at the moment. When I see the cross that he wears at his neck, it makes me think that maybe that is a symbol of his religion or something else of great importance to him. When I see his overall clothing, posture, and expression, it makes me think he has money and holds himself in high esteem and thinks of himself as better than everyone else. When I see how tall he stands and how the artist made it so at the angle he is at, it seems he is larger than the buildings, it makes me wonder if the artist was trying to communicate that his figure should be "larger than life".

We are not just one thing. That's why even though there are all these objects around her, the woman in the art piece has a neutral face. I think that because when you look at something like a dance, play, piece of poetry, a music sheet, any piece of art. You will feel something. Even if it's just boredom, your still feeling something. And i feel that was the point. It's not that she is the door, WE are the door. The door to our emotions, our world, our relationships. The drawing shows an African American can be as good and better than White athletes. The quantity of people with such a mad and angry facial expression because an African American is playing makes me feel sad. The expression of Jackie's Robinsons face compared to the other people shows commitment and being able to deal with hate. This picture makes me have respect for Jackie Robinson and how his Color of his skin doesn't affect the way he thinks of himself and how he does not care how others hate him.

In the picture I also notice that some of the facial expressions that they have are glad, but most are mad at Jackie Robinson. My focal point takes me to the people yelling at Jackie Robinson, except their eyes draw me to Jackie Robinson himself. The gesture of J.R. tells us that he's about to swing his baseball bat at a ball, or has already swung. Jackie Robinson is dressed in a baseball jersey, and you know that he's in the stadium because people are booing at him from the stands. He is holding a bat in his hands, and he's the only things that has color, for the background is faded, and so are the people. When I see the look on his face, it makes me wonder if he even cares about the people yelling at him. The people yelling at him make me feel frustrated because they're yelling at him, and then probably can't do any better!

I wonder if he is feeling seoursious or concered because I see he is focused on what he is looking at or his target. When I see him looking off into the distance it makes me wonder what he is looking at. I wonder wh he is holding out his hand because I see him holding out his hand in the direction of his focal point. When I see his black dress shirt and is white scuff it makes me think of is he going to a formal event or did he just goI wonder if he is in another country then america because I see that it is a little diffrent way of decorating the house then we do here in america. I think he is hurt or he is gettinf old because I see that he has a walking stick in his left hand. When I see the fruture it makes me wonder if they have more fruture where hw lives just not in the backround of that picture but maybe infront of him. When I see George
Washington it makes me wonder how tall he is because he lookes really tall compared to the table.
I feel that it is a mad but loving place because I see a lot of red and black which to me red and black mean mad and red also means love to me.
