My relationship with reading right now is very positive. I associate reading with a lot of happy thoughts because it's something that helps me relax on a busy day. On my free time, I love reading a lot of fictional young adult novels. I am also trying to read some new genres like autobiographies and self-help books. Some light instrumental music in the background really helps keep me in the mood to read.

I think my relationship with writing is also pretty positive. I like writing short stories on my free time about different kinds of media I've seen. I associate writing as a hobby I can do if I have a lot of free time. Reading is something I can do on the go, but I feel like I really need to be in the mood to do any writing at all. When I write, I prefer typing than actual writing with pen and paper because I believe it's much more efficient and allows me to concentrate for a longer period of time.

1. my relationship with reading is similar to torturing each other. I do not like reading fictional stories and the majority of the reading we have done is related to fictional characters and settings, so non of them satisfy my taste for nonfictional, history-related books. outside of school, I love reading war-history relate books. and I love using a tool such as take notes and underline to help me put annotation on some important parts of the book that make a story go smoothly and also help me to go back and review when I am confused with the character's action.

2. I think that my current relationship with writing is trying to understand it with a limited vocabulary. Writing is different from reading, to me is one way I release my emotion to the other. I love writing poems that are short, putting my mood into them, and trying to illustrate them to my friend or posting them with my photographic. reading something means consuming others' ideas but writing is totally the opposite. To me, I can be ready for writing my internal mood at any moment but to prepare to read something take time and it is also exhausting.

1. My current relationship with reading is positive. I would like to read more books, but I will hopefully get there. When reading is incorporated into my lifestyle, everything tends to become better as I feel more refreshed and inspired personally and academically. I like to read the genres: young adult, action, and romance. Sometimes I use sticky notes as a tool for reference if I want to return back to key points I find interesting while reading. For example, in the last book I read, I bookmarked the map shown on the first page of the book so I can visualize where the characters are and the names of the places they are going to.

2. I am not the best at writing but I am better than I was before, so I would deem it a “neutral” relationship. Writing can be a hassle, but sometimes I can be passionate about writing depending on the topic. Mainly I use writing for academic purposes but I also journal too. For academic writing, using online available resources to check grammar is important to make sure my writing is accurate.

I currently have a positive relationship with reading right now. This is because I have found books I very much enjoy reading. I have a series of physical books in my dorm that I adore and have sparked this positive relationship with reading. I associate reading with a time where I can separate myself from my current reality with fantasy books and their plot. My association with more academic readings has improved positively as well as I am trying to view academic readings in a different way compared to my past self. With physical books including personal readings I like to note interesting points or pages with sticky notes and with academic readings I use annotations in the margins to deepen my understanding of the text.

My relationship with writing is more complicated but I would still describe it as a positive. I enjoy writing when it is about my personal opinions. I find it easy to dump all my thoughts into a doc or piece of paper. I have a harder time with formal academic writings because the way I organize my ideas are very chaotic and my drafts are not outlined in a traditional way. I do tend to procrastinate when it comes to writing and I am trying to break that habit. I used to struggle with sharing my writing with peers but I am trying to grow out of that. I mainly use google docs for writing for academics. I use a physical journal for personal thoughts and planning my week. In my drafts for academic writing I like to highlight my main ideas so I don’t stray from my points.

My relationship with reading is satisfactory. I tend to only read when it is asked of me and I view reading as more of a chore than something I carry out recreationally. However, when a certain book or series captures my interest I will pick it up and enjoy it. Usually the content I'm inclined to read consists of young-adult and romance novels. As for tools I use, I usually go back and re-read certain sections multiple times to gain a complete understanding. I additionally use google to look up words i'm not familiar with, or I might use context clues if I am able to.

My relationship with writing is a lot more positive. Typically, I am more inclined to write than I am to read, and I will carry out writing recreationally.

I enjoy reading. I read whenever I have free time. Reading helps me strengthen my imagination, I always visualize everything I'm reading. When I was younger, I never enjoyed reading. It wasn't until I got older when I started to appreciate the benefits of reading. I was never reading books I found enjoyable, which is why I lacked in reading when I was younger. I highly enjoy reading classical literature (currently reading Emma by Jane Austen), but I usually read whatever sparks my interest. When reading, I like to use transparent sticky notes to write what I think one line is saying. I like to highlight everything I find important, when sentences stick out to me, or things that connect with one another. Sometimes I also use audiobooks when I feel like I'm losing concentration, the audiobooks usually help me stay focused when I'm feeling distracted or feel tired mid way of reading.

I lack in writing. Writing is not something I am strong in, I am not the best at formatting my writing, and getting my writing to how I would like the tone to be. However, I do try my best to improve my writing even if I dread it. I usually only write for school assignments. I mostly write essays and some free writing. I try to use as many resources available to me when writing. I like to use the app 'Grammarly' to make sure nothing is misspelled. I also try to use dictionaries to find new words to use, rather than repeating the same few words over and over again. I will always ask either a friend or peer to read my writing before I submit it. I like to get other peoples opinions, and their thoughts on how I could improve my writing before I submit it.

My relationship with reading right now is complicated. I enjoy reading when I am interested in the subject I am reading about. Otherwise, it feels like a heavy weight on my shoulder trying to read things I simply don't care for. Like math textbooks ( I know I need this knowledge but if I had the choice I would not read a math textbook.) To be honest I cannot remember the last novel I read but I swear novels are my most favorite thing to read. I think I just have prioritized schoolwork and work over it, so I've stayed away from the habit of reading I once had. When I have my own paper copy of a novel, I like to highlight phrases that I find interesting or that I relate to. I also add comments on the side(rarely) about how I relate to writing as well.

My relationship with writing is positive. I have always enjoyed writing no matter the subject I am writing about. Writing is a way I express my thoughts and feelings about anything. I like writing because I can organize my ideas in a way where I can understand them and express them for other people who might read my writing. I know I can improve my writing because no one is perfect, so I do hope to improve my writing even further in college. I write in school for assignments or research papers, but I also write in my spare time. I like to write my own poems or letters to my loved ones in my spare time. When writing for school I use the grammar/spelling check already embedded into my laptop because I am not a skilled typer and often make spelling mistakes. I also use word count when there is a word count we are required to meet. For my personal writing I sometimes forget a word I want to type so I look it up on google.

I am currently disliking reading because I have been reading a lot of stuff. For example, I have read a few chapters for my math and communication class. These chapters were very long, and I had to take notes to help with my assignment. Tools that I needed were notebooks, pencils, and a laptop. Most of my books are digitals, and I take in more information from writing down when it comes to math. However, if I remove the academic part of reading, I have a positive relationship with it. I enjoyed reading, and reading helped me relax. Some books helped me escape reality since I would immerse myself as the character in the book.

My relationship with writing is very 50/50 because I'm not a very good writer, and my writing has many grammar mistakes. Recently, I have been writing notes plus annotations and responding to my course assignments. When I write, I need an outline to help format my writing and evidence I have noted down from my reading. An outline is a tool I will use when it comes to essays because it helps me create a skeleton for my writing, and it helps organize my thought. Another tool I didn't mention is "Grammarly," the app helps me reduce the number of mistakes I have in my writing.

My relationship with reading is very neutral. Right now, the only reading I do is for academic purposes so I don't really find it enjoyable. However, I used to love reading fictional books until I had to do it for school, and I stopped reading after. I know that reading is good for your brain, so over the years I've tried to get back into it, but it never works. The last book I tried to finish reading was "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo". The story was really interesting, but I ended up putting it aside to prioritize school work. Unfortunately, I never picked it up again. As I mentioned before, I usually only read for school. My favorite ways to read were with audiobooks and sticky notes. Audiobooks saved me in high school because I could multitask. Being able to listen to what I had to read while doing other things, like chores, was such a time saver. I also loved using sticky notes because they were small and I could write things down easily, such as important details or something that stuck out to me.

Currently, I have a much more negative association with writing than with reading. Similar to my relationship with reading, I dislike writing because it's required in most of my classes. During my sociology lecture, my professor straight up announced that we would need to complete an extensive amount of writing to do well, and I almost cried. I've also never been confident in my writing skills and I know I need improvement. Often times I find it difficult to get my thoughts onto paper while making it sound like I know what I'm doing. There aren't many tools I use while writing, but one that I love is Grammarly. I never thought I made many spelling or grammatical errors until I downloaded it. It's always been a useful tool for writing, whether it's an email or an essay.

My relationship with reading right now is relatively poor. I rarely read unless it is for a class assignment. Hence, I only read academic articles in addition to everyday casual reading such as reading text messages. I honestly have a negative association with reading, especially since the pandemic started. In my mind, reading is related to studying and it has been hard for me to see studying in a positive light since the pandemic; studying was just so much more difficult to do when everything was online and it was hard for me to focus no matter how much I tried. Now, I have a slight fear of reading because having to understand words is intimidating to me. I use Perusall to read and annotate.

My relationship with writing is better than my relationship with reading, because writing really helps me organize my thoughts. I generally have a positive relationship with writing, especially descriptive writing, because I love to draw. Hence, I am always able to describe things in a more creative way. To me, writing descriptive essays is like drawing a picture. I usually use Google Docs to write or the Notes app on my iPhone.

My relationship with reading is complicated and I’d say it’s more particularly on the negative side. When it comes to reading, I only read when I am asked to, not in the aspect that I enjoy it. Typically, I would only read articles or novels that are assigned to me. I don’t spend a lot of time reading books on a personal level, rather academic. Though that doesn’t go to say that I don’t read books at all. There will be times when I find a book that interests me, but the issue comes from the fact that I tend to never fully commit myself to complete the reading. I will eventually put the book on hold and never pick it up again. When I do read though, I love using audiobooks because it’s more immersive for me than text and saves a lot of time from reading.

My relationship with writing is neutral and slightly better than my relationship with reading.

1. I would say I have a pretty positive relationship with reading. I will admit, I am not as active of a reader as I was in middle school and early high school. However, I have no issue picking up a book of interest and spending a couple of hours sitting with my eyes glued to the pages. It's a hobby I hope to be able connect to once again. I am very interested and very much enjoy the fiction/fantasy genre. My favorite series, "The Inheritance Cycle", lies within this category.
In terms of academic readings, I'm not a huge fan, but I also don't despise it. While it is not my favorite activity, I do occasionally find myself immersed in assigned scientific readings, mainly those based on plants and animals. I have made it one of my personal goals to work towards viewing all academic readings as a beneficial learning opportunity rather than a mandatory activity that is to be done and over with. As for tools, I find annotating helpful. Whether it be with a few sticky-notes, writing within the margin lines, or typing down some thoughts. Having recorded ideas that you can easily refer back to can come to be a huge help.

2. As of right now, my relationship with writing is complicated. I can type and write for hours when I work on a topic of my interest, more specifically with narratives and creative writing. However, when it comes down to analytical writing, I feel I lack organization and overall skill. My way of structuring my writing needs work as well as my ability to properly and efficiently use information I have gathered. As for tools, I tend to open up separate documents for links to sites with relevant information and for any quick notes. In my last major writing project, I utilized a library card to access their database, making it much easier to find specific information pertaining to my topic. During the process, I occasionally ask a few friends, classmates, and maybe even my instructor to read over my work and make any suggestions.

1. My relationship with reading has changed a lot throughout my life. I used to enjoy reading in my spare time just because I loved to get wrapped up in a good story. However, I've noticed that as I've gotten older, I hardly ever read anymore unless it is a textbook or an article for class. My hobby of reading has almost completely ceased to exist at this point. Why? I once blamed it on my lack of free time as I had more important things to do, which was true. However, this Summer I had almost all the time in the world to pick up a few books to read. But I didn't. I wonder if this is caused by my lack of reading habits or the fact that growing up dulls the imagination, leaving reading much less exciting. As for tools, I don't use anything unless I'm annotating an article or highlighting key concepts from a textbook.

2. My relationship with writing right now is bittersweet. I enjoy writing however I often find it difficult where to start, what to include, and where to include it as I often feel confused by the chaos of my thoughts. I used to love writing short stories when I was a kid but now I usually only write essays for classes. The only tool I really use is a thesaurus and other sources for citations.

I have a positive association with reading because I mainly read in my free time to distress myself. I read all kinds of books but the main two genres that I enjoy reading the most are poetry and coming-of-age novels. I choose novels that seem to have similar aspects to my life to allow me to connect to them on a deeper level. I enjoy reading with music like oldies and going to the beach or somewhere with nature to really focus on the novel. I also have a really good association with writing. Most of the time, I write when I can’t get my emotions or thoughts together. I also like to use writing as a way for me to express myself because I have a difficult time doing that verbally. My writing style gets inspired by the poetry I read so I tend to write in a poetic way.

1. My relationship with reading is not very positive. I don't typically read on my own time so the books that I do read are for school and the purpose of reading them isn't for enjoyment, but rather for analyzing the texts and trying to find meaning in it. The kinds of books I read are usually realistic fiction or scientific fiction. I don't usually use any tools while reading, unless I'm accessing it through the internet, like a downloaded pdf.
2. My relationship with writing is slightly better than my relationship with reading. However, if there's a reading assignment versus a writing assignment, I find the writing assignment to be worse. I would say I have a neutral association with writing and I usually do use tools to write. I prefer to write on paper because it's easier for me to write a lot because it's harder to read what I write as I'm writing and get stuck trying to find more complex words. The tools I'd use would either be google docs or a computer or paper and pen. The kind of things I write are usually short responses like texting, but for school I'm used to writing essays in short periods of time.

1. I currently have a positive relationship with reading. I love to read books that are related to my field of study. I am currently reading a book called Programming in C and Thomas’ Calculus. I use websites called zybooks.com and vitalsource.com to read them. The Programming in C book is online and it is interactive, meaning that I can write code directly on the website and test it out as I learn how to program. So far I have read 1 chapter and I have been enjoying the book. Every chapter covers a particular topic in-depth and then it tests your knowledge by presenting you with an interactive piece of media that helps strengthen your understanding of the topic.

2. I have a negative association with writing because for the majority of my high school year I would always score low on writing-based assessments. On the TOEFL(Test Of English As a Foreign Language) I scored 24/30 for the writing section which tanked my overall score. In high school, I wrote essays about math, literature, and philosophy. I always use google docs to outline, draft and revise my essays. I have found it to be a very useful tool as it syncs my essays across all of my devices.

I currently have a positive relationship with reading. It's actually kind of funny because if I were asked this a couple months ago I wouldn't necessarily know how to answer. I was never really big on reading, but I just now realized that I only like to read if I enjoy what it is I'm reading. Mostly romance and drama. I prefer it over others just because I enjoy happy endings and seeing all the hardships they go through. I've finished reading about 3 or 4 books just this summer and I'm about to finish another. I like to read physical copies because I just think it's cooler and will make me want to read it. I do also have a kindle I read on sometimes, which is nice because if I can't find the book I want in stores I can always buy it online. There are times I'll feel like taking a break from reading because I don't feel like it or I just don't have time. Reading to me is like my safe space. I'm also on booktok (tiktok but for book recs) To be honest I'm just not good at writing. Which I think is why I don't like it. I've just never been very good. I've never really felt proud of my writing. I would love to start journaling because I know others enjoy it but I feel like I'd end up not doing it after awhile. I only write when I have to, usually for class. Grammerly is the go to for spell checks and punctuation errors.

My relationship with reading is inconsistent and complicated. It depends on the topic and the situation. Most of the time I have negative associations with long academic reading assignments. I will read them online or in physical copy depending how it's assigned. Especially assignments that require analysis and reflection. Because I usually will not have any comments and strong feelings towards the plot or information. So I often struggle with them and don’t enjoy the process. I like reading romance and sci-fi fiction in chinese. I would binge watch the entire book within a day and feel very emotional about it. I do understand that reading is important for me and it’s necessary to read in order to improve my English skills. I recently found a new platform called wattpad, there are many long novels that interest me. I would try to read some books from there and set up a habit of reading English books.

My relationship with writing right now is also quite negative. It does not matter what type of essay, stories or language. Most of my writing assignments are schoolwork that have instruction and a checklist to selfcheck. And I lack creativity and have very limited writing skills. So I would end up getting an enormous amount of time editing and revising my writing. It was not fun. I mainly use google doc to write.

My relationship with reading is somewhere right in the middle, neutral. When I am reading things that interest me, I have positive associations with reading. However, when it comes to school work or things that might not interest me at the moment, I feel obliged to read. It is then when I have more negative associations with reading. When I was younger I liked reading a lot of comic-based books and non-fiction novels. I like to read articles about music and technology. Typically when I read articles for fun, I don't use that many "tools." If it is an article that I want to go back to or that resonates with me, then I bookmark the article or save it under the favorites tab.

My relationship with writing is very similar, if not the same, to my relationship with reading. When I was younger I would sometimes like to write stories or make songs (write the chords and then lyrics to a song I made up). That would bring positive associations to writing. But I often had very boring writing assignments in middle and high school that didn't interest me so I associated that writing negatively. I typically make outlines for my writing. I try to brainstorm before I write so that I have a organized idea of what I am going to write. I also typically spell check my writing before submitting. Grammarly was a useful tool that I used throughout high school.
