         <description><![CDATA[<div>Duffy's adult life was centered around literature since she was introduced to it at such a young age, with that being said she transitioned from her convent schooling to Liverpool University&nbsp; and graduated in 1977 with a degree in Philosophy.<br><br>She began publishing more works and began lecturing at Manchester Metropolitan University, to where she became the creative director of the Writing School.<br><br>Duffy became a atheist at age 15 and, says that her religious upbringing has helped her poetry, stating that "poetry and prayer" are very similar.</div>]]></description>
