In chapters 11-12 Will and Jim follow the newly arriving train until it stops. Whilst stopping the train whistles, a whistle so horrible that Jim and Will scream. After it comes to a stop the ring man gets off and much like in a movie, soundlessly and effortlessly, the crew starts to set up. During this whole process the author describes the set up by using words like shadows, monster shadow, Oil-black, and darkness. This sets up an ominous mood at this part in the story, Will and Jim get frightened and run back home.
