<description>The collective was born in 2013 to highlight the unjust murder of Trayvon Martin and continues this day to steer systematic reform, educate and rally for critical race theory, and plea to defund the police as a result of the injustice and police brutality enacted and persisting upon Black Americans. </description>

<title>ELIJAH MCCLAIN, 23, was walking home from a gas station where he bought iced tea for his brother. Body camera footage, after months long inquests, revealed that Officer Woodyard placed his hands on Elijah within 10 seconds of exiting his vehicle. Elijah was listening to his headphones when approached by three Aurora PD officers, Woodyard, Roedema, and Rosenblatt, who were all reporting on a “suspicious person” call, with officers Marrero and Dittrich stationed at the scene as well. Mcclain wore an ski mask to soothe his social anxiety, he played the guitar and violin at animal shelters, worked as a massage therapist, and described by family as gentle and pure. The officers claim he resisted contact. Officers claim a “struggle ensued” and one accused Mcclain of reaching for his gun. On the incident report, the three officers offered conflicting accounts of whose gun Mcclain tried to grab. They placed Mcclain in two carotid holds at the scene, one that involves applying body pressure to the neck to temporarily cut off blood flow, and the other dislocating both of his shoulders. However, in body cam footage, Elijah is heard crying that he was only pausing his music to listen. He began to sob and vomit in his mask. He is recording saying he could not breathe. One officer can be heard threatening to unleash the k-9 if he “keeps messing around.” At the 15:34 time of the body cam footage, one officer is recorded saying “Leave your camera there.” Elijah is then placed in an ambulance where paramedics inject him with 500mg of Ketamine, enough to overdose an average adult. They grossly, purposefully inflated his size, which is proportionately smaller at 5’6 and 140 pounds. Body cam footage shows Elijah still, unmoving, and silent for a full minute prior to the injection, of which he was not asked consent. The autopsy shows conclusive evidence suggesting Elijah would be alive and healthy today had officers not attacked that that evening. October 2019, not two months following Elijah’s death, officers from the scene Dittrich, Marrero, and Jones took a selfie at the scene of Elijah’s attack with Jones’ arm around Dittrich’s neck and texted it in a group chat with Woodyard, who did not reply, and Rosenblatt, who responded, “Haha.” Elijah’s family still has yet to receive rightful justice and peace. </title>

<title>DELAYED JUSTICE FOR MCCLAIN: SEPTEMBER 1ST 2021. The indictment read, and was issued for all three officers including the two paramedics, “Mr. McClain was a normal, healthy 23 year-old man prior to encountering law enforcement and medical response personnel,” [...] “A forensic pathologist opined that the cause of death for Mr. McClain was complications following acute ketamine administration during violent restraint by law enforcement … the manner of death was homicide.”</title>

<title>August 2016. Darren Wilson arrives and finds Mike Brown, 18, shortly after robbing a convenience store. Wilson targets and shoots unarmed Brown in the back, while his arms are raised in surrender, resulting in his murder. Wilson was exonerated twice from criminal wrongdoing and supporters of Wilson have raised half a million dollars on his behalf. In the Wilson proceedings, Prosecutor Robert McCulloch is assigned: The son of a St. Lous police officer who was killed in a shootout by a black suspect when McCulloch was 12. Ferguson responded with uproar and looting, as to demonstrate the injustice felt by the affected community. Media sought to blame the protestors, dubbing them rioters, and failed to uncover, report, investigate instances of brutality against Black America, causing further a rift and deeper division among parties.</title>

<title>On May 25, 2020 Floyd was resting outside of Cub Foods when he was approached by Officer Derek Chauvin and two others. He was arrested on suspicion of using counterfeit $20 to buy cigarettes. Floyd was unemployed at the time due to coronavirus and attempted to de-escalate the encounter. Chauvin was well-known in the community for using excessive force. He had more complaints against him than any other MPD officer. Chauvin proceeded to pin down Floyd in the city street, kneeling his weight on Floyd&#39;s neck. Floyd cried &quot;I can&#39;t breathe&quot; twenty times in the bystander&#39;s footage. Chauvin did not release the carotid hold until paramedics arrived and asked him to. This daytime act of blatant violent racism acted as tinder for sparking worldwide outrage, BLM support, solidarity with #DefundThePolice, and causing the Minneapolis city council to restructure their police to be &quot;community-based public safety.&quot; During the height of the pandemic and heat of summer, BLM supporters protested for justice for Floyd. Chauvin was convicted on all murder counts and will serve 22.5 in prison. A major victory for BLM activists that would not have been possible without their posts, investigations, teachings, reports, and humanism. </title>

<title>Kaepernick challenged the implicit notion that sporting events have to be impartial, even blind, to racial disparity and injustice. He mobilized the BLM foundation with televised protest and subsequently popularized the movement. The NFL is a leading industry of influence among impressionable populations. Angered at Kaepernick&#39;s choice to use a nationwide platform, NFL powers essentially forced Kaepernick into early retirement. </title>

<title>Breonna Taylor Louisville KY, March 13, 2020. Around the hour of midnight, Three Louisville PD Officers respond to a knock and announce warrant issued to Jamarcus Glover for drug trafficking charges. Instead of knocking, they destroy the door with a battering ram. Asleep occupant Kenneth Walker is startled and believes he is being robbed, so he reaches for his legally owned firearm and unloads one nonfatal shot that hits Sgt. Jonathon Mattingly&#39;s leg. The officers react by blindly firing out 32 bullets, six of them pelted Breonna, killing her almost immediately. There were no drugs found in the home. This was all completed by officers out of uniform and out of protocol. Taylor, 26, was an emergency medical technician, asleep on her sofa when she was murdered. The three officers were placed on paid administrative leave. The only officer to be indicted was Brian Hackinson, who fired several shots into a neighboring home. He was never formally charged. The city of Louisville did however pay Taylor&#39;s family a historic $12 million from the wrongful-death lawsuit settlement. </title>
