For the past 3 years I have been sculpting on the side to make additional money to help save money for college. It is a lot of trial and error to get shapes right, but is a lot of fun. I have been to several local craft fairs, including the one at Towson University.

Several years ago I was interested in dungeons and dragons, a role playing game where you play a character in a world constantly changing as it is being created. After several years, I am now running two of my own games and unleashing my creative side as I am the one making the world for other players to be in. I have learned time management and working around everyone's schedules in order to play every other week, rotating between games. It was certainly a challenge at first, but coming up this May my group would be playing for a year now!

Growing up I lived on a farm on the border of Baltimore/Harford Country Maryland. It is definitely a unique experience and I was involved in a local 4-H club. After awhile, I became the president of that club and it was my first teaching experience as I had to teach and lead younger children about animals, growing plants, how to cook, and a lot more. It was an experience that also launched me into the path of being a future educator.

I have learned an extreme amount of patience with trying to bond with my bird, Katie. She was originally my Grandmother's, and then my older sister's, and now mine and my Mom. Conure Parakeets bond to one person, and being passed down from person to person, Katie had trust issues. It has been several years now, and has finally grown accustomed to me this past year- meaning she no longer tries to bite me. It was certainly a long (and painful) process, but it shows my dedication and patience to reach a certain goal.

Why Special Ed?

Although I am following in my step-sister's footsteps, the main reason I wanted to become a Special Ed. major was because of my Dad. He has a rare genetic disorder called Retinitis Pigmentosa which is a type of blindness that cannot be stopped, cured, or prevented. The video below relates to my major in the sense of looking for early signs to help children adjust into their new life.
