The story's tend to take place in castles, forests, and houses in the woods. They tend to start with "Once upon a time", "Long ago" or "Many years ago". 

There's usually some sort of magical human or witch or something magic happening. There's always a happy ending and the villain in the tale always get punished some how. The main character in the story something always bad happens to him/her but everything becomes good at the end. The story's can also end in "Happy ever after".

There's usually rhymes and songs in fairy tales.
