1. Mid-Term Goal: Buying a car in the next three years.

a. Amount Allocated: For this mid-term goal, I plan to allocate from my uncle’s $10,000.00 gift a total amount of $2,000.00.

b. Investing Strategy: To achieve this mid-term goal, I plan to use a “Beginning to Invest” strategy because I need this investment to provide the lowest risk possible to make my money growth in a steady manner.

c. Saving/Investing Tool: I will open for this goal a savings account giving me in return at least compound interest of 5.5%. I will deposit the $2,000.00 I segregated from my wealthy uncle gift into the savings account. My strategy also includes for me to separate from my paycheck monthly amount of at least $100.00 and deposit into the savings account. The results of potential strategies look for my money to growth to $6,150.11 at the end of the three-year period. The following screenshots summarize the results of my strategies, the other 2 people pictures are below in the 2nd section.

d. Risk in the Strategy: My strategy for this goal presents a very low risk in terms of losing money in the process. Because is a savings account, the volatility in the investment is next to none. Therefore, the chances of losing value in the initial investment and subsequent deposits are low. However, most of the potential risk in this strategy is that the assumptions would not become true. As you can see in the table below, a decrement in the interest rate would decrease my projected future value. Another potential risk that may impact my strategy is the cost of living may not allow me to save the minimum of $100.00 for the monthly deposit or a potential loss of my job may also not allow me to save these minimum required deposits.

My strategy also includes a bi-weekly contribution from my paycheck of at least $270.00. My strategy estimates that my investment would give me a Return on Investment (ROI) of at least 5.5%. The results of potential strategies look for a total money growth of $1,436,085.39 before taxes at the end of the fifty-year period. The following screenshot summarize the results of my strategies.

d. Risk in the Strategy: My strategy for this goal presents a low to medium risk in terms of losing money in the process. The volatility in this type of investment is low to medium due to the fact banks and institutions administrating these accounts place the invested funds into different investment vehicles according to the account holder’s instruction and based on the offerings available. Therefore, there is potential of losing the amount invested due not choosing the correct investment or the market experience a “down” in the values. Nevertheless, any potential loss can be recouped due to the longevity of the goal. Another potential risk that may impact my strategy is the cost of living may not allow me to save the minimum of $270.00 for the bi-weekly deposit or a potential loss of my job may also not allow me to save these minimum required deposits.
