This capacity can be a positive way the begin to change a personal assumption.  Looking at an issue/conflict from the other's perspective could open the opportunity for a new direction... I have come to realize that Getting to COLLABORATION requires parties to first agree to COLLABORATE .  This first step necessitates each party changing within, empathizing with the other, recognizing that the other can have a valid POV.  This first step is always to most difficult but necessary...
