         <description><![CDATA[<div>-A Workaround is defined in nursing as a time saving shortcut to a system failure that interferes with patient care.<br><br>-Workarounds typically take up a portion of a nurses busy day. Fairly common at busy or inefficient hospitals with slow pharmacies.<br><br>--Nurses use workarounds to save time and give the patients better care at inefficient hospitals or places slower pharmacies.</div><div>-Patient to nurse ratios relate to workarounds</div><div><br>-Some hospitals use barcode scanners and some nurses refuse to work with the barcodes despite the good intentions of administration to reduce med errors. </div><div>-poor system design and workarounds of the system cause the remaining of medication errors.</div><div>-unreadable medication bar codes, missing patient wrist band identification, malfunctioning scanners, uncertain wireless connections, nurses overrode BCMA alerts</div><div>-BCMA design sometimes encourages workarounds</div>]]></description>
