Gusteau appears to the main character, Remy, as merely a hallucination. We can somewhat decipher his teaching style based on Remy's impression of him. He gives thought provoking questions and motivates Remy to pursue onward to his dream of being a chef. He tells Remy he is a cook, and to act like one when prompted with the once in a lifetime opportunity to cook in a real professional kitchen.

Gusteau is a fantastic mentor/counselor. He guides Remy through his tough times and really pushes his limits to carry on. He sets examples and standards for what a good chef should be. His famous motto being "Anyone can cook!"

Classroom Management

Remy would always watch the real Gusteau on TV while in the old lady's house. This is where he gained the knowledge of what a kitchen should look like. As Remy looks down from the glass ceiling into the professional kitchen for the first time, he and his imaginary Gusteau can recognize the different roles and positions each designated area has in the kitchen, or in this case, classroom.

As Remy continues to look down upon the kitchen, he sees some dingus messing up the soup. The new hire, Linguini, accidentally bumped into the soup pot and spilled it everywhere. In an attempt to fix this, Linguini tosses in a bunch of spices at random and tries to fill it up with water from the sink. Gusteau tells Remy he knows how to fix it, and to go take his shot at being a cook. Gusteau demonstrates his ability to assess and encourages Remy to go do what he knows he can do.

He opened his very own gourmet restaurant with top of the line staff, and garnered massive success across the world for his carefully planned out dishes, and for his best selling book which details the hundreds of recipes he has concocted over the course of his entire life. Truly one of the most planned out characters in ficiton.
