The story of a girl overcoming her mothers death just to find out everything she knew was a lie after being shipped off to an island to a grandmother she doesn't even know screamed at me to read it. To find out that there is a whole supernatural world right under everyones noses is an intense thing and Weil does a great job of showing just how the characters in the story overcome the challenges they face. Through all the kick-butt fighting scenes  the cocky attitudes, and struggle to understand who you truly are Weil does not disappoint. Piper's life is never the same after the truth bomb that is thrust at her. The council that is set in the supernatural world requires Piper to accomplish and fully commit to the duties they have laid out for her, but the real question is can she do it? After everything she has gone through and the pile of her loved ones dying getting bigger, she has to overcome it all and decide if what the council wants is truly the right thing and if at the end of it all will she survive? Even though there were a few deaths at the final battle scene Weil's couldn't have done a better job. Piper finally chose what she needed to do and what was best for the supernatural side of the world. She fully accepted and stepped into her role as leader of the council and watcher of the veil between worlds.
