The National anthem is a very beautiful song that was written during the War of 1812 in Baltimore, Maryland. It was a difficult battle. One of their leaders was Francis Scott Key. On September 13, 1814 Key watched a night time battle between Great Britain and America. The words he wrote are from a poem he wrote that night. It is now called The Star- Spangled Banner, that officially became our national anthem in 1916. That song has been played for so many years now. It became so popular it started to get played in sporting events, especially at Hockey games!!!!!!!!!!!

The flag was made by Betsy Ross at the time George Washington was the president of the United States. So she made that flag a long time ago.
