My name is Samantha Vick. I have a brother named Jones who is in the 7th grade. I have a mom named Katie and a dad named Gerald. My mom is a pediatric dentist. My dad is a stay at home dad who used to be a lawyer. I think he likes hanging out with us. I have two dogs, Moses and Nickabond. I have two cats, Tux and John. I have a horse named Buckshot, and one lizard who is Jones' lizard named Faster. I have brown hair and dark brown eyes. My interests are horse back riding and scuba diving. Those are my favorite things to do. I also ride my bike and do kayaking. I think what makes me ME is my love for my animals and my ability to steer around my fat horse. He is a sweetie though. I always think that animals are more important to me than most people.

My Frighting Life Story

The scariest moment in my life was when I got sick for two months when I was 5. I couldn't eat, my belly hurt constantly, and I think I lived in the bathroom. Part of this time, we were on vacation with my parents' best friends from another state. The father is a pediatrician. He looked after me, called my doctor here at home to talk about what might be wrong with me. This went on and on. I was so skinny already, and I lost weight. About the time I was getting better, some test results finally came that said I had salmonella poisoning. All these people were calling my parents trying to figure out where I got this from to maybe help protect other people. The only thing we have ever been able to figure out was that shortly before it started, I had been to a day camp with my brother and there were turtles there that I was able to pick up and hold. With lots of thinking from the doctors and my parents, we found out that turtles carry it so it wasn't necessarily anything I ate. I was really scared, and I now know how scared my family was for me. I will say that I think I got over it. I still love turtles just like most animals. I am more careful to wash my hands a lot so hopefully I never get that again.

My best school memory is when my whole class went to Sea Lab last year. It was so much fun. We got to go to the beach, go into a marsh, go on a boat ride, and even a store! My best friend Sherilyn was my roommate for the weekend. I had so many of my friends there. My parents did not go, so I was just there with my friends and teachers! We had an early morning walk every day for the people who got up. I did the early walk two times of the three days. We got to see the beach, cars, it was just so fun. That was the best trip of the year of 5th grade.

My Personal Failure

My personal failure is hard to talk about. It started on April 4, 2018. I was so excited about my horse show. I had everything planned out. I would do my first two classes, get a snow cone, and do my next four classes. I had planned to try my best with the horse I had. His name was Rusty. He was an American Quarter horse. He was a rusty color with white down his fetlocks. I had gotten him ready for the first class and we had gotten a little bit cocky about winning. I rode him and got him in 6th place. I was very upset with myself. I felt like I had let him down. He deserved better than 6th place. I loved that pony. A couple months after it turned out the he had cancer. We tried to do everything to keep that horse. We had sent him to Auburn Vet School. Everybody was sad, including me. To this day I had always though if I had been more humble, we could have won that show and payed for his medical bills. He is still at the Vet school, we miss him but know he is doing great with all the other ponies there.

My success story is really exciting to me. I had a huge science test coming up. Science wasn't my best subject. My mom had told me if I didn't study, and take the time I needed to learn what I was doing, I wouldn't make a good grade. I did not want to take three hours out of my personal day to study for some science test. It was even harder because I had some plans with somebody that day about going to the farm. I did the right thing and decided to study for the science test. It turns out that I made a 100 percent of the science test. I would never not study for a big test, knowing that I can do it.

My Interesting Vacation to Roatan.

My story started out with going to Roatan. Roatan is a beautiful place to go scuba diving. I wanted to go on the boat with the adults and scuba dive to 40 ft so bad! I had not passed my scuba certification test yet. I was stuck in a kids program trying to get certified. I had no freedom. I was stuck in a classroom for four hours a day. I got to go in the water about 2 hours a day. At the end of the day I would always meet up with the adults at the swimming pool. I was not complaining even though I wasn't happy about not being able to scuba dive to 40 ft, because most people don't get to go on big vacation trips like that. I was just happy I got the opportunity to go to Roatan even if it wasn't as fun sitting in a classroom having no freedom. I encourage you all to not give up. To this day I tried my best and got scuba certified so I can do fun things on vacation.

I have many family stories, but the story I will be sharing today is a story about my best friend. Her name was Jessie. She was my dog. She was my best friend and nobody can change that. She isn't with me today because of a medical problem. I got to hold her for the last time a few months ago. She was 9 and my best friend. She slept on my bed, comforted me when I was sad. It was the hardest day of my life. She always had a special look on her face that we called the " Elvis Look " She would pin her ears back and her lips would come up. She was a special dog. She meant everything to me. She was a silver lab. Her ashes stay with me. She was something special. As I said, nobody can change that.

This is a story about something that happened between me and a friend. We were at a water park, playing on the inflatables. When somebody comes up to my friend and says move. I did not like that so I had told her to apologize. She walked away. The next time she came around, she said excuse me. I was happy that I had taught somebody how to ask someone to move nicely. This was my story between me and my friend.

My Worst School Memories

My worst school memory is in second grade. It was pajama day. The second graders had a play that day. Little did I know, pajama day for everybody except the second graders since we had a play. We were supposed to show up in our costumes, but I showed in my pajamas. My friend Abby told me that we were not supposed to wear pajamas. I was so embarrassed. My second worst school memory is in fourth grade. We also had a play. I had a singing line. So I had said my line and was getting ready to sing my song. When the music played, I forgot the words. I stood there just swaying my hips. After the song ended we had to dress up in our fancy tops. My top was stuck on the rack. So I went out with my same clothes from when we were homeless. I got weird glares and stares. This was SUPER embarrassing.
