• Bilingual is when a person can speak two languages, mother tongue and another language.
• To be truly bilingual means that a person will be able to speak his native language followed by a second language without losing the native language.
• This does not focus only on speaking the language but also contextualized language skills (reading & grammar) which is also known as academic English.

• Cultural differences might interfere with developing a second language. For example, here in Belize it is complicated for a native English speaker to learn the Spanish Language. There is a stigma that starts from the earliest level of learning. There is not enough emphasis placed in the classroom for the Spanish culture and due to this the language becomes hard to acquire. Children thinks that important so the few native Spanish speakers are then pressured to become bilingual. The dominant language in an environment will be the language that will then be spoken. It is essential to never forget culture when teaching and learning a language.

•A dialect is any variety of a language spoken by a particular group, it is apart of a group's collective identity.
• Examples of dialects of American English are southern, Bostonian, Cajun and African American Vernacular.
• Dialects differ in their rules about pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, but it is important to remember that these differences are not errors. Each dialect is logical, complex and governed by rules.

•Be sensitive to their own possible stereotypes about children who speak a different dialect.
•Teachers can ensure comprehension by repeating instructions using different words and by asking students to paraphrase instructions or give examples.
•The best teaching approach seems to be focus on understanding the students and accepting their language as a valid and correct system, but to teach the alternative forms of English.
