The camera movements in Coraline are very sharp and fast, in order to give the sensation of fear, adrenaline, and sometimes in order to create a jumpscare. The Animation style of Alice in Wonderland is more relaxed and kid friendly, giving off a more child friendly feeling. Coraline looks visually darker and more detailed than Alice in Wonderland, Which could give off a more scary and realistic feeling of the movie. Alice gets prompted to discover the other world because she was sitting around bored, until a white rabbit leads her to the door. For Coraline her main motivation for discovering her new world was because of her parents' lack of attention to her. Her family lives a boring life and constantly does not pay attention to what Coraline has to say to them. We can see that the places used in the movie were dark, sketchy, and uncomfortable. For example, the house of Coraline's family is rigid with dusty objects. The electricity was unreliable, the shower water was unsanitary, and there were places in the house where the interior in rough shape. The land outside the house is very bad condition and looks figuratively dead. The skies are dark and there are not a lot of lively animals or plants around. In Alice in Wonderland 1951, in Alice's normal world, the setting looks very lively and beautiful. The trees and fields look green and healthy, and there are an abundance of lively plants around the area. The landscape of area has a nice waterfall as well. She used a more serious tone that was filled with scary emotions that made the audience more terrified and conscious of what the ending plot will be. Alice's story seemed more so not serious and funny tone in the language that was used. I was going to a new middle school so I just lost all of my old friends, and my mom was also in the process of getting a new job, so she didn't have much time to talk to me. I needed something to help me be part of some community just like Coraline, so I bought a guitar and learned to play it by myself. It gave me a new sense of belonging and I discovered a community of guitarists in real life and on YouTube as well. For example, Coraline faced many obstacles and challenges to see her parents again. If she gave up, she would not see her parents and died. This connects to me because I've always struggled with life and the way I get challenged whether it is a positive or a negative thing. I live in a family of five and sometimes making money and buying desirable things will seem hard to buy, but ever since I realized that I would not be stuck at the bottom of where life takes me, I decided to work and make money to be able to provide for my family and myself. Now, I can look back and thank myself for the days I have not slept and decided to make money. On the days when I felt tired, I still used to make my money and buy whatever I wished for.
