"Why Are We Still Teaching 'To Kill A Mockingbird' in Schools?"
I think that we should still teach this book in schools, because it has a lot of good themes. It talks about how some schools don't teach this book because kids think that it is offensive. I believe that if you think this text is truly offencive in anyway to you, you should have the choice of not reading it.

Article 1 talks about how the movie and the book relate. What their similarities and differences are. The author talks about how the actors did or did not fit the characters, how the screenplay helped bring the mood of the book to the screen, and how the set helped bring the story to life. I agree with the author of article 1 when they talk about how well the movie matches the book. Besides a few small differences I think the movie and book are almost spot on.

The article says that Boo Radley is representing the mockingbird. It is also saying that the story is not very accurate to the time period and that it is a reminder of how it used to be in 1932. The author says he is the mockingbird because he didn't mean any harm in killing Bob Ewell and he was just trying to defend and protect the children. I agree with the author because Boo didn't want to hurt anybody, he just wanted to protect the children from bad things or people.

I disagree with this school completely removing this piece of literature from their program. The article states that this school removed it from their education system because of the use of the n word. In my opinion, 8th grade is a little early to be reading this book because it touches on some uncomfortable subjects and uses questionable language not suited for kids this age.

Wil Weber Article 1 I think that we should still be teaching this article in schools because it shows the importance of not judging a book by its cover. Take Boo Radley for example, Throughout the story he is painted as a big, bad dude. When in reality he wounds up saving the kids because he cares about them and as creepy as he seems he isn't a bad guy.
