At a young age, Charles mom Kathleen had sold charles to a women who wantedd kids for a pitcher of beer. His uncle eventually had to find the women who had Charles and get him back. shortly after Kathleen had gotten married to William Manson and switched young Charles name to be Charles Manson. At 12 years old, Charles was put into a boys school.  He was rejected to live with his mom which then turned him over to living on the streets.  In 1951 as a teenager, Charles was serving his first prison sentence for a series of petty crimes. He was described in prison as a model prisoner and he searched for any kind of stable love since he didnt have a dad and his mom just gave up on him. The family consisted of around a hundred people and like Manson they shared a common interest in hallucinogenic drugs such as LSD, acid and mushrooms. 
They also shared a common interest in the idea of an unconventional life style away from society. After Manson's release from prison in 1967 for petty crimes he and the cult moved to San Francisco for a period before reaching their final home of an abandoned ranch in the San Fernando valley it was here that Manson would begin his diabolical plans. Of the hundred people in Manson's cult only a handful were trusted to carry out his orders to murder his selected targets, the first batch of which would be called the Tate murders, where four members of the family invaded the holly-wood home of celebrity couple Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski killing the eight month pregnant Sharon Tate, three visiting friends, and an 18 year old visitor. lucky for Polanski he was working on a film in Europe at the time. After he killed Hinman, Beausoleil wrote the words "Political piggy" on a wall in Hinman's blood, in an attempt to lead police to believe the murder was done by a group of radicals. Beausoleil was arrested on August 6, 1969, after falling asleep in Hinmans broken down flat alongside the highway at Cuesta Grade. Bobby Beausoleil has produced a lot of music recordnings, visual art, and writings hinting at an indomitable creative spirit despite being locked up nearly all of his adult years. 

Susan Atkins:  Born in San Gabriel, California the second of three children she grew up in northern California. She was described by those who knew her as a quiet self conscious who belonged to her schools glee club and the local church choir. Susan was involved with Gary Hinman's murder, police raided there location on October 1969, a large amount of the group was arrested on car theft just after this arrest another member of the group implicated Atkins in the Hinman murder and she was charged with that crime.
