"The college's shared reading experience, One Book One LCC, is returning for Fall 2025... This project focuses on building and embracing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the LCC community.

One Book One LCC will be integrated across campus - in classrooms, discussions, and events. The goal is to share a common reading experience that sparks meaningful, authentic conversations and builds a community where everyone can experience diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, (Tommasulo, 2024)."

Look for a title announcement in May 2025!

I would like to recommend the book "By The Fire We Carry" by Rebecca Nagle. Nagle is a member of the Cherokee Nation. This book follows the story of the Muscogee Creek Nation from the 19th Century to the Present, and their fight for Justice and Tribal Sovereignty in Oklahoma. It is 336 pages long, but I think that it is a well-researched and informative book that is worth the read. The book was published in 2024 and has received critical acclaim from various media outlets. More information about the book can be found at the Harper Collins website link provided.

I believe that it meets the essential requirements and criteria of what One Book is looking for. It is multidisciplinary (the intersection of Law, History, and Native American Studies). It focuses on issues that are relevant to DEI and can spark multiple discussions on the nature of justice and civil rights and Native American History (and American History more broadly).

Please consider adopting "By the Fire We Carry" as the One Book for Fall 2025.
