My house is in front of one of the main streets of the city, but I'm in the country side. Santa Maria la Carità, also called from us (La Carità) for convenience, is a semi-urbanized city because it has a lot of plots of land and a lot of farms where people breed animals. My house has a small plot where my family and I cultivate all the necessary (potatoes🥔, tomatoes🍅, melons🍈, pumpkins🎃...). We've also a lot of fruit trees (9 of lemons🍋, 1 of peaches🍑, 1 of cherries🍒, 4 of oranges🍊 and 2 of figs). La Carità was born in the 900 b.C like a rural settlement, but it became a real city only in the 600 a.C. when the Longobardi population conolized Italy and made a lot of Towers including Santa Maria la Carità. My city in its smallness is a very active center! The inhabitants there, are called "sammaritani". It's a strong society because all of us know one other. There are lots of shops, bars but all starts in the square of the city where the Proloco, (the local association), organise a lot of activities like horse racing. My city has a tipical tradition that is the race of the districts. Because every main street has a team and every summer these teams compete with one other. There are 5 teams (eagle🦅, butterfly🦋, dolphin🐬, hippocampus🐴🌊 and lion🦁); mine is eagle. There are 3 games: the tug of war, the carousel and the gastronomic competition. Unfortunately this year the lion won😢.  Hope that the next year will be different💪. There is also a festival in summer called "Festival of eggplant". As you can see it's a festival where we eat together and the main dishes are made by eggplants🍆! It lasts only 4 days but it's a very unic tradition because not all the cities do it. I also worked in the festival as waiter, in fact I'm a member of the Proloco. I hope that you all find my city interesting. I'm really excited at the idea of reading other stories and share with you my city and my life.
