What is the covenant?

The Mosaic covenant was a set of conditions that God placed on the nation of Israel at mount Sinai. Moses had a special relationship with God, and the Mosaic Covenant was decreed to Moses by God through divine revelation.

In Exodus 19:3-6 God establishes the covenant with the Israelite's through Moses. God said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: ⁴‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. ⁵Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, ⁶you^[^a^] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." God wanted to send this message to the Israelite's through Moses. If the Israelite's listened to God they were promised a kingdom and will be the treasured possession of God, meaning they will be the chosen people of God.
