As we were huddling together, we shivered in unison. Under the skins of the animals we recently hunted, we were in danger; due to the cold. The cave was as cold, accompanied with the sounds of the nearby animals and our fearful breaths.

Frame 2 (Sofia): Discovering fire

Whilst huddling together, one of us set out to hunt. That was me. When I went out of the cave, there was grey smoke in the distance. As I got closer, I saw a reddish orange outline. It was... a flame! We named it fire. Thunder must've struck the land, for it was warm. I called out to my companions, informing them about my discovery. We were surprised, but thankful for the source of support.

We eventually learnt how to control it and utilize it for daily activities, tasks, and life.

Frame 4: Sharing the Knowledge (Joud)

We attempted to connect with multiple networks, in hopes of passing on the important information/details of our new discovery over the course of multiple generations. We found nearby societies and communities, and shared our knowledge. This connected us through the process of collective learning. They were surprised, but we taught them how to use this info. They passed it on as well.

Frame 5: Life after Fire (Sarah Alshrah)

Across a certain time span, fire has became a part of our lives and identity. It connected us to multiple communities, and unified us. We are glad for our discovery, and are no longer shivering in the cold; rather, rejoicing with the warmth.

We discovered fire by grabbing two stones or twigs and rubbing them hardly together to create sparks of fire. Our discovery was a major thing that other groups and I needed at our time. We could use our new discovery for many different reasons like, cooking food, or for warmth. We were a bit scared because we didn't know how to control it for the first time; however, we also felt proud about our discovery because we knew that our discovery was a great success and is useful for almost everyone at our time.

When we figured out fire, we were struggling to keep it alive. So we tried different ways and the best way we did it was when we covered it from the wind. It was a source of light and heat that was useful when it was cold it also helped us from predators. It was also useful as a source of cooking the meat and food.

After a couple days or so we found other people and we started explaining how fire was useful and how to control it. We also shared what we can use fire for, like cooking food and warmth.

Some good things that happened after we discovered fire were that we had better cooking and better nutrition because we could cook the food and not eat it raw and that’s healthier. It was better to cook the food so that it can be easier to chew and to digest. Cooked food was better to gain energy, it also leads to gain development. Cooked meat reduced the risk of getting illnesses from eating raw meat. Discovering fire kept wild animals away from us so now we are protected. Fire was like a weapon to save us from the wild animals! Fire was like a light for us to see everything at night. It was like a night light! Fire was a weapon to make us warm enough when it was winter, so it’s like a multi shield!
