My ideas of partnering with families are the following: books, journals and learning albums. The book, Creating Welcoming Schools by JoBeth Allen said that journals were a very positive experience. "The journals became positive places for expressing family values, beliefs, and practices" (Allen p. 110). This allowed teachers to help students who they found challenging in elementary school. They realized that they knew nothing about their families and this helped them. "It is almost rare for teachers as it is for parents to get such positive feedback on a regular basis" (Allen P. 110). The quote was about the journals being very positive for parent/student and family. The teachers were able to get to know their families.
