Changed Curriculum to Increase Accountability and Match Reading Level

One family really struggled with work completion and accountability. There were (are) lots of issues at home, and getting the family to complete work was difficult. In addition, the mother and I had different ideas about what level books are appropriate for the kid. We solved this by switching to Bright Thinker online. The included reading is grade-level appropriate, and the mom appreciates that the curriculum is varied and paced out. The work completion has improved, and mom is happier that the online curriculum takes some of the burden off of her.

This year I have a pair of siblings who only like to complete work on Fridays. This strategy has not been working and students are behind and failing courses. Sticking to the PIN process and incorportaing an SST has helped parents realize the importance of checking in on their student to make sure they are logging in multiple times a week to complete work.
