A forest biome characterized by trees that shed their leaves in the fall. This biome is well-known because of the four seasons the deciduous forest goes through. The winters are cold and summers are warm. This biome is known to have many deciduous trees that drop their leaves in the fall. This biome is known for having spans of hot and cold air spans that produces the four season change. Temperate deciduous forests are primarily in the eastern half of the United States, Canada, Europe, parts of Russia, China, and Japan.

In this biome, July and August are known as the hottest months and the rainfall is higher in these months. Summers are known to be rainy and hot. March is not as hot as the summer months but this month has a good amount of rainfall. The winters are cold with a less amount of rainfall. February is usually the coldest month before winter transitions into spring. Fall and spring have a lower amount of rainfall than in the summer, but March has varying temperatures in different states in the US, therefore fall and spring have a related average temperature.

This forest is extravagant because it has a plant hierarchy with 3 levels of plants. Roses, wildflowers, moss, and ferns are in the 1st level. This level consists of floor level plants who make up the producers for 1st level consumers to feed on. Shrubs and bushes make up the second level these all are autotrophic organisms. Trees such as pecan trees, maple, live oak, and magnolia trees make up the 3rd level. These are large trees who are communities for birds to live in.

Animals who live in this biome will have to be able to adapt to the four changing seasons. Animals have different methods of doing what they have to do to stay healthy in varying weather situations, such as polar bears hibernating in the winter and birds migrating in the colder seasons as well.

A sunflower i a plant organism which resides in this biome. This plant has a head that is heliotrophic, which means it rotates to follow the sun as it rotates. This plant is also adapted by having bristles which slows and prevents the water that is lost. This is helpful when the climate changes when the is a season change. Moisture is hard to obtain in times like these. The topography is a nice setting for plants like these to adapt to. These plants are in locations that are rich in soil, so therefore they are not on the coast.

Ferns are plants which are found in these forests as well. They have waxy leaves and this helps to keep the plant from losing water. They have adaptations to help them survive as well. The topography here is a hilly place, so the ferns have deep roots to ingrain a strong plant foundation in cases of catastrophe.

Females use their body color as camouflage from predators and males use theirs for attracting mates to reproduce to survive. They adapt to the climate by knowing when to migrate to warmer climates and these birds adapted to the topography by building nests in trees
Chipmunks adapt to their environment by hibernating in their burrows in the winter. This is what they do when the area gets too cold. The topography in their area consists of leaves being on the surface floor and the chipmunks use their fur as camouflage and the coastline is not a problem for them as they are in central parts.

Plants and trees are very important and alot of organisms depend on these autotrophic organisms.
