Truly Radical?

Martin Luther Kings work has definitely encouraged a more open minded view on the world. An example of this is the way King spread his message. He was someone who show his opinion through nonviolent ways.
King changed his status quo by demonstrating his and others opinions through nonviolent ways. This gave him quite a following which then helped to get their thoughts seen by the people in the higher power.
He also risked his own wellbeing as he ran the risk of being arrested for his beliefs, which did happen. Unlike others who send out people to fight for them violently.
As King became more well known for what he was doing, more people started to follow him. He did not demanded in a wrong way that everyone must do what he was saying. But as King got his message across the situation slow changed.
It was possible that different people from different backgrounds go offended while this took place. One that it know that came from this situation was the people in higher power e.g the American Government. They did not like that so many people had this opinion and that they were protesting against what laws they had put in place, even though they were unfair. This is why King felt it was important to try and change them.

World Views

King's world views were shown very strong though the work that he did. This was all happening at a time when many of the black people of America where starting to fight against the 'coloured' laws. They wanted to be equal with the people of white skin. But unlike others King went about putting his message out there differently. He wanted to protest his views in nonviolent ways. This showed that he still wanted to keep piece and not start violent fights. One of his world views was for everyone to be equal. King wanted anyone from any background to have the same opportunities in life as the person next to them. What we can admire about this is that King didn't turn to power to do this either. He went around spreading his message of hope. It shows how much love he had for everyone and didn't want to force what he wanted. Over time he got a large following which showed that many other people shared his world views. If you compare Kings world view to others at that time there is a few differences. For example, most of the white people were still against the idea of white and black people to be equal. This is very different from kings world view. They didn't see the need for the laws to change as it was benefiting them. As said before Kings world view was the opposite to theirs. Another world view that was different to his at the time was for their to be a lot of 'control' amongst people. People with higher power had the finial say. King believed that the people should have their voices heard and that there should be more freedom.

Inspiring My World View

After learning about Martin Luther King Jr. and what he did has some what changed my world view. I have learnt to to go about things with more of an open mind. I feel inspired how he kept pushing for what he strongly believed in even when he got so greatly set back so many times. He had courage to keep going especially when he was 'breaking laws' and experienced some traumatic situations. He is a great example of a role model for younger children especially those who suffer racism. King was someone who gave hope to those in time of need when they felt trapped in their own skin. He is definitely someone that younger people should look up to. I feel that I have valued completing this assignment as it has added to my world views. I have definitely learnt to look at situations through other people's perspectives before making an opinion on them or the situation. I think that this is very valuable and important right now with all the discussion around racism. Following on from that I have also learnt that it is important to look out for everyone and not just who you know, as we are all in this together.
