Head of murderous Sinaloa Cartel, Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera found guilty. Beginning his legacy as early as the 1960s, Chapo and the Sinaloa Cartel were/are described as "one of the world's most prolific, violent and powerful drug cartels".

The first social media element I researched was CNN News. The information gathered was accurate and the website made it easy for users to access information in seconds. Individuals involved in the making of the news article would be the journalist, who would be responsible for developing the story. As this is an online news article, an author/writer would be involved to turn the journalists findings into a story. Lastly, there would most likely be an editor involved as well to proof read and make final adjustments to the article.

CBC is the most reliable Canadian news broadcaster locally, nationally, and globally. The information was clear and concise and the website is simple to navigate. Similar to CNN, there would be a journalist, an author/writer, and likely an editor to bring this article all together. Personally, I find when researching different topics, finding a trusted news source allows the information you find to be accurate and trustworthy. Another reason I find CBC and CNN to be the top news sources, is that they always provide images of the story being covered, giving viewers a better insight to the event.

Today Youtube is the world's #1 video streaming platform. Averaging over 1 billion hours of videos watched EVERY DAY! (more than Netflix and Facebook combined) One person describes Youtube as "a mix of analytical and comedic content Youtube videos, movies, songs and pretty much anything that can be explained". One of the few videos I watched was titled "El Chapo's drug tunnels, explained". Discussing how through Chapo's career as a drug trafficker, tunnels became Chapo's means of transporting all of his goods.

Whether retrieving news, following high-profile celebrities, or staying in-touch with old high school friends, twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms available today. With 100 million daily active users and 500 million tweets sent daily, the social media platform is one of the more easier ones to navigate. On twitter, and the internet in general, it's so easy to believe everything you read - which is one of the main issues with social media. On twitter, researching and finding information can get tricky but if you know what to look for is what is key. Is the account you are reading from verified? Do they have external sources? As well as, doing additional research into the specific topic.
The tweet I came across was from twitter account @vocinsider which is kind of a "lifestyle blog". They shared a video about what El Chapo was like and what kind of person he was.

Facebook is a social networking website where individuals can post, comment, and share photos, links, news or other interesting content on the web. With 1.32 billion daily active users, Facebook is the world's largest social platform by quite a bit. Professional/academic researching on Facebook isn't the most effective source as that is not the general intent for the platform. While researching El Chapo on Facebook, I was able to come across many comments and posts shared regarding the event. Giving that the platform isn't necessarily for researching information accurately, I would not recommend believing everything you see or hear on Facebook.

Vice is a well known content producer. One of their main avenues of communication is through videos. This requires and big team of professionals such as, journalists who obtain the information, and a video editor who creates the content. While researching different videos, I came across
"Watch The Raid That Led To El Chapo's Capture" and it immediately captured my attention. The video includes footage that aligns with evidence you can find elsewhere, along with facts which are provided in the video.

While researching twitter for relevant information, I came across @BestTenNews1 whose headline was "El Chapo Guzman’s reign is finally at an end — here’s how he compares to Colombian kingpin Pablo Escobar". This caught my attention because it mentions another relevant drug dealer. Upon more observations, I realized that this tweet was not from a reliable source. I say this with confidence because the account is not verified, the tweet does not have any exposure, and they only have 30 followers.

As mentioned before, Facebook is not necessarily a reliable source for researching important topics. But, although not much information is available through this platform, there is still plenty to discover. For example, celebrities such as French Montana isn't someone you would expect to comment on such current events. This shows how widespread the news of El Chapo was/is. This was a good example of how unreliable a source facebook is because as I went to follow the post to read more about it, numerous error messages came up and I was unable to access it.

Researching on Instagram is very difficult when it comes to finding accurate information. Since Instagram is limited to a photo-only platform, it makes it very difficult to get the entirety of the story. @usatoday was effective in broadcasting their information with their use of a short video. As there is a variety of content (both reliable and unreliable), searching through the hashtag #ElChapo, was an efficient way to look through the posts. In order to put this content together, they would most likely use a journalist, a videographer, and a social media specialist.

In this instance, I came across @peopleenspanol, who effectively broadcasted their information by directing their followers to the website for the full story. Additionally, their choice of content was one of El Chapo's mug shots which hadn't been featured any other outlet. Along with an author and social media specialist, they did a good job in crediting the original owner of the photo.
