The CNMI has a presidential democracy as it is a commonwealth in political union with the United States.

In their culture, respect is heavily emphasized. Some examples of popular foods include empanada as well as pancit, a noodle dish derived from the Philippines. The dominant religion of the Northern Mariana Islands is Roman Catholicism. A few of the more interesting tourist attraction sites include scuba diving in the ocean as well as visiting the Toga Cave in Rota, which is a huge limestone cave comprised of many stalactites and stalagmites.
