Eventually on page 133 Ed somehow makes his way and finds the Stones of Home and he saw 3 names carved in it. He is very confused at first with having 3 names and before the brake in even happened he has getting nervous saying how he didnt want the Ace of Spades. He immediately goes to the phonebook and picks Tomas O'Reilly and he finds 2 T O'Reillys and he picks one and its Tomas O'Reillys brother Tony. It's clear Ed wants to help out as much as he can and he is changing as a character into a better person. Also I don't think he's just doing it because of the letters I think he actually wants to do something in life and this is his way.
