The friendly games It is not a competition between countries but a chance to inspire each other to greater achievements. It is a chance to meet as well as compete.
That’s why we call the Commonwealth Games the ‘friendly games’.

Facts.

1. The Games are held every four years Like the Olympic Games.
They include athletics, boxing, cycling, swimming, gymnastics, rugby, badminton, netball, lawn bowls and javelin
2. There are para-sports events for elite athletes with a disability.

my favourite sport is swimming because its the only sport I can actually do and swimming is a great workout because you need to move your whole body against the resistance of the water unlike football you only use your legs. Swimming is a good all-round activity because it: keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the stress off your body it also builds endurance, muscle and strength.

Although there are currently 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, 71 teams currently participate in the Commonwealth Games, as a number of dependent territories compete under their own flags. The four Home Nations of the United Kingdom—England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland—send separate teams.

Task 2
1) There are a total of 31 approved sports, along with two multi-disciplinary sports, and a further 7 para-sports.
2) My favourite sports that are played in the commonwealth games is table tennis.
3) Harmeet Desai from India currently holds the commonwealth table tennis championships as of 2019.

Hi Charissa, I really enjoy watching the top athletes playing table tennis at these types of events. I am always amazed with how quick their reactions are and their ability to return the ball in such fast paced rally's.
