(2002-2015)
Federal Law that held schools accountable for students' learning and progress or lack of. Punished schools if not acheiving. Primarily focused on improve test scores for sudents of color, poverty, special ed., and ELD. I ranked this as second important to me it was meant to support all students and help those who were struggling.

1. Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka 1954.
This was a Supereme Court landmark case it declared that "seperate but equal" or racial segregation did not provide an equality of educational opportunities to all students and violated the 14th Amendment. Overturned Plessy v Ferg. This was the most important ranking for me because all students should have equal access to education and materials to facilitate learning.

3. Lau v. Nichols
Supereme Cout landmark case stated that the lack of supplimental language instruction in public schools for students with limited English Proficiency violated the civil rights act of 1964. I felt this was important because it held schools accountable to students who did not speak english as their primary language. This helped students to have equal access and be able to be understand and comprehend the materials. Bringing them to the same level as their peers.

4. Plessy v. Ferguson
This was a Supereme Court case that said students of different races could be educated seperately as long as the facilities and materials were the same. This case was important because even thought it was a bad ruling it was a start for all students being educated. It also opened the door for other cases for 14th amendment and civil rights violations and to schools that were no longer segregrated. It was the catalyst for minorities to advocate for their civil rights.
