To gain a better understanding of the Maqasid Al-Shariah, you can watch the video above.

What I discovered from the class discussion is Maqasid Shariah. In Topic 3, we learned about Maqasid Shariah and how it may be used to create a more sustainable world. Essentially, Maqasid Shariah shares the same goals as the SDGs and is compatible with the 5Ps (Peace, People, Planet, Prosperity, and Partnership) to create a better life. In general, Maqasid Shariah seeks to benefit people and safeguard them from corruption and evil, with Islam emphasising the preservation of religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), intelligence (hifz al-aql), lineage (hifz al-nasb), and wealth (hifz al-mal).

Islam is a comprehensive religion, and we must not focus just on one aspect of life while ignoring others. In reality, when it comes to maintaining our lives, it is critical that we live in harmony and peace. People are recommended to use Covid-19 vaccinations as the disease spreads over the world. The vaccine is crucial for both preventing virus infection and protecting our lives. Vaccination is allowed in Islam since the advantages outweigh the drawbacks. Next, religion is a fundamental value that Muslims must safeguard. All Muslims have an obligation to protect their religion by following Allah's commandments, which include conducting five prayers, fasting, paying zakah, and performing the hajj. Implementing all of these rites will deepen our faith and, as a result, act as a shield to safeguard us from committing sins, becoming apostates, or indulging in anti-religious behaviour. Islam also teaches us to safeguard our minds and intellects against anything that could harm their powers and functions. It entails refraining from using alcohol or other substances that impair mental processes. Islam bans men's and women's relationships in order to protect their dignity. In lineage protection, free mixing of men and women is outlawed because it can lead to adultery, overpopulation, and finally become unsustainable for the earth. Individual wealth protection is achieved by seeking riches in a good way and refraining from engaging in any illegal economic rivalry. So, prosperity is attained in this way.

As a result, if we follow law of Allah (Shariah) and believe that God is always observing, we will be able to achieve our aim of creating a sustainable world. As a result, it is critical that all Muslims return to Allah in all aspects of their lives, because only religion can direct us in the correct track.

JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST PLASTIC WASTE!

The Sustainable Development Goals are being formulated in order to build a safer and more sustainable planet for all future generations. One of the goals of sustainable development is to protect our environment, which includes beaches, mountains, and other natural areas.

However, there are now a lot of plastics on the beach. Plastic trash will have an effects on environment.

So, how exactly can plastic harm the environment?

I began researching the effects of plastic trash on our planet. Plastic pollution has some harmful environmental consequences. It pollutes our water, deteriorates water quality, and eventually damages human and animal life. Plastic endangers marine life and harms our soils and lands by reducing soil fertility and drawing disease-carrying insects to plastic landfills. This is the exact opposite of SDG-3, in which we emphasized the goal of obtaining universal health care for all living beings on the globe.

The more I investigate, the more I realise that it is caused by human behaviour, and I may be a part of it. For years, the world has been suffering from climate change, which is mostly caused by human activities such as plastic manufacturing and a loss of moral significance. People are regularly dumped unceremoniously on land or in rivers in developing countries before ending up in the ocean, endangering marine life. Marine turtles, for example, may mistake floating plastic waste for food. Because they can't tell the difference between plastic bags and jellyfish, they can choke, suffer internal injuries, and die or go hungry. As we all know, SDG 14 (Life Below Water) is used to conserve the seas and oceans, as well as the living organisms that inhabit them. Some toxins or hazardous compounds found in plastic can hurt or kill marine life.

People can assist reduce plastic pollution by bringing reusable grocery bags, moving from disposable to reusable drinking bottles, and prohibiting the use of straws. People can also avoid purchasing plastic bottles by bringing their own to work or school. Despite the efforts of some individuals and social media groups, people continue to use plastic.
Because plastic is such a convenient and useful component in our daily lives, I find it difficult to shift our habits of not using it. However, proper plastic use, as well as the desire to remove it, is much more important. Plastic pollution will take decades, if not centuries, to degrade in landfills if we do not act immediately.

We can save the world and keep plastic from entering the ecosystem if everyone contributes to the fight against plastic pollution, avoiding health risks for humans and animals worldwide. Environmental protection is an important aspect of modern life that should be deemed a religious duty (hifz al-din).

Finally, these problems taught me a lot, one of which is that threats or damage can infect other things. Every source and species on the planet depends on one another to live. Significantly, I understood that the most important aspect of our lives is to be grateful for and enjoy our environment, nature, surroundings, and resources.

Reminder: Let us spread the word and save the earth.

Thank you very much :)
