We had control flowers that were placed beside a window, then flowers places in front of a fan, in a large Ziploc bag, and under a 24 hour light. We measured the masses of the plants before placing them, then took the mass on day 2 and day 6 after to observe any changes.

     1. The plants placed in the continuous light and the fan had a larger change of mass than the control. Placing the plants in the humid environment decreased the rate of change of the mass.
     2. Constant light and wind from the fan increased the rate of transpiration, and the humidity decreased the rate of transpiration.
     3. The 24 hour light resulted in the greatest rate of water loss through transpiration. Because of the constant light, the plant is able to obtain more energy through the process of photosynthesis, thus increasing its rate of transpiration.
     5. The plants can open or close the stomata to retain more water, or shrink their leaves to hold more water in the stem.
     6. The larger the number of stomata on a leaf, the faster the rate of transpiration. Take different plants with different counts of stomata and observe and compare their rates of transpiration.

     1. My hypothesis was mostly correct, except for the statement that a fan decreased the rate of transpiration.
2. Some challenges were that the plants were dying, and it was hard to keep track of all of the masses of the different plants. Yes, I assumed that the fan would decreased the rate of transpiration, but it actually increased it.

When the plants are exposed to the continuous light or placed in front of a fan, their rate of transpiration increases because in the experiment, their masses dropped drastically compared to the control group. When the plants are placed in a humid environment, their rate of transpiration decreases because their masses did not change as much compared to the control group.
