For example, when Macbeth is in the other room after King Duncan is invited inside the castle Macbeth starts doubting if what he’s doing is the right path to take, Macbeth states “I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition” (1.7.25-27). In the quote Macbeth conveys the evil path he is going and how he doesn’t have the correct reason to go along this evil path. This is an example of internal conflict because we see how Macbeth is conflicted between his morals and his greed. As a result we can see how greed can make you forget your morals and even doubt them taking you into a evil path.

Vishal- For example, after Macbeth makes his decision to his lady about not killing the king, she manipulates him into attacking his masculinity and fragility. This can be seen when she states,"And live a coward in thine own esteem" 1.7.44. Lady Macbeth can be seen using ethos to attack Macbeths masculinity. As a result, Macbeth eventually changes his mind due to this manipulation and convince himself to kill Duncan.

After Macbeth tells his wife about how he no longer wants to kill the king they get into a big argument. This leads to Lady Macbeth mentioning to Macbeth “What wont you and I be able to do to the unguarded Duncan?” This is an example of Rhetorical Questions since Lady Macbeth is using this question to imply that their plan cannot fail making Macbeth feel more secure about going through with the murder. This ties back to the central idea of “greed leading to a path of evil” because Lady Macbeths greed for power is causing her to grow desperate and willing to do unspeakable crimes to gain that power. Lady Macbeth is disregarding many potential punishments if the plan is failed out of desperation for the title of King and Queen.

-Geo

In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, one central idea in Act I is that ambition can push people to do things they never would have done because without ambition Macbeth never would have plotted to kill the king and try to obtain the crown, nor would he have ever been so cruel of a person. For example, when Macbeth and his wife were plotting to kill King Duncan, Macbeth states, “I am settled, and bend up each corporal agent to this terrible feat.” In this quote Macbeth is saying that he will use all of his power to go through with this plan, and not back off like a coward. This is an example of characterization because we see Macbeth turn from a coward to becoming an ambition man. This connects back to the central idea stated before, since it was his ambition that made him act and speak this way about killing the King.

Furthermore, when Macbeth is having doubts about killing Duncan, Lady Macbeth states, “Look like th’innocent flower, But be the serpent under’t.” (1.5.67-68). In the quote, Lady Macbeth conveys how she plans to deceive Duncan by presenting him with kindness and gratitude in their own home. While the true intention is to murder Duncan for the crown. This is an example of foreshadowing because Lady Macbeth creates a facade in order to take the Crown. As a result Lady Macbeths sinister plot shows how in the face of hospitality one can always be betrayed. Sergio, Tyler

For example when Macbeth was talking to his wife on why can’t they proceed with the plan he states “ We will proceed no further in this business….. If we should fail? “ In this quote Macbeth conveys how it is not a right thing to murder someone but get influenced by his ambition to do it. This is an example of internal conflict because he is constantly deciding whether he should kill the king or not . As a result out of his greed for power to be a king and evil influence of his he decides to proceed with the plan and kill king Duncan.
