I assume he behaved that was to act tough in front of mister pendanskey so he doesn't appear weak, but he usually is not one to act super tough. Stanley is supposedly an overweight (and not super strong) kid. so something else that surprised me was how X-ray and Squid called HIM caveman. they were talking about how Stanley was " one tough dude" and I am confused why they thought that way. I know they just met Stanley and don't know him super deeply yet, so for now maybe they portray him as this tough kid. At the beginning of the story when Stanley entered this building and approached a man at a desk spitting sunflower seeds, the man told him that he was allowed to run and that he wasn't going to do anything about it. To my surprise, Stanley didn't run. this shows me that Stanley most likely got decent grades in school and has the ability to solve problems by thinking and using common sense to figure out what he wants to do if he faces something.
