On page 13 it says, "Nobody. Nothing. They had left him. He was alone." This makes me think that Salva is not going to know what to do alone in the world. I'm wondering why they would they leave him, when he is only a child. If I was Salva, I would be terrified for my life and survival, especially being away from family.

What is true in the world and true in the reading would be people fighting for what they believe. In this book the Rebels are fighting for their right to have a different belief/religion where the Government wants them to follow their leadership.

I thought that Salva would run away when the Government were attacking the village. I think that because he was in panic. The text said "Salva covered his head with his hands and looked from side to side in panic." Now I think that he has more courage than I thought.

There is no water near by and little or no food for miles, also they exclude people from their tribes if there isn't a lot of food. Now for Nya, we can just turn on the water fountain but she can't get that fast of water, she doesn't live near water because of the fighting and it takes and all day process just to walk to water and it's not even that good. I always thought that Salva knew what was going on and how this would all play out on his behalf, but I come to realize that he is as frightened as the other kids such as Marial was before he got eaten, or some of the people are in their minds but just don't want to tell.

The book is similar to current the current world because people currently are starving and moving out of wars way. People also are struggling to find their families. People in Syria are struggling with the civil war and are evacuating the country. In the middle eastern countries there are problems with terrorist groups and the groups are killing innocent people and causing them to evacuate the countries.

Something that is true in this story and the world is the fact that a lot of countries have little to no water. Many families have to go out on daily trips for water just to get enough for the day. Victoria- Good thinking, but I kindly disagree. since Slava and Nya lived 23 years apart from each other, I see it highly unlikely that they will meet each other.

Something that is true in the story and the world is that we all lose friends, but Salva has it worse because he has no friends, and he is in the middle of the desert. he has no one to rely on, and the group wants him left behind because he is a child. he does not like this, but there is nothing he can do. He is very sad because he can not find his family.

and hopefully the two of them don't end up having a relationship with each other. that would be weird..... unless Salva and Nya are related by blood. that would make a lot of sense

On page 38 it says "I am sorry, Salva" Uncle said quietly" Your friend . . ."
Marial? Salva looked around. he should be somewhere nearby. . . . I don't remember if he slept near me - I was so tired - perhaps he has gone to fine something to eat-
Uncle stocked Salva's head as if he was a baby. " I am so sorry," he said again.
This makes me think that Marial died of starvation. In steed of dying from a lion attack.

I believe that salva is brave because if i was if i was him i wouldn't do what he is doing. Like on page 73 when he was a camp for 6 years by himself. I couldn't do this because i wouldn't do this because i wouldn't be able to survive.

I believe the Salva and Nya will not meet each other at any point of the book, though At the same time I wish they could meet each other and be in a relationship. But I am a hopeless romantic..

before i though Salva was just a kid who has lost his family .but now i think he is just a boy that is trying to find his family . first he looses his family then he finds a friend and then he gets eaten by a lion then he meets his uncle and he dies too. its like a pattern who he kinds dies. i wonder if he ever does find his family again will they die just like the rest.
