The punishment was Jem going to her house and read to her for a month.<br><br>2. Mrs. Dubose dies. Atticus gives Jem a box that Mrs. Dubose had given her maid for Jem; a white camera lies in the box.<br><br>Chapter 12 -<br><br>1. Dill did not come during summer because he has a new father and was going to build a fishing boat.<br><br>2. The state legislature was called into emergency session and Atticus left Jem and Scout for two weeks.<br><br>Chapter 13 -<br><br>1. Aunt Alexandra moves to Maycomb to stay with Atticus, Jem, and Scout for a while.<br><br>2. Aunt Alexandra joined and became Secretary of the Maycomb Amanuensis Club.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><mark>Chapter 10<br></mark></strong>1. Jem gets a lot of money for his birthday so he goes to town to lighten his pockets. <br>2.Scout thinks that her father is old and physically not capable of physical activities.She changes her mind when Atticus shoots a <strong>Virulent </strong>dog with rabies.<br><br><strong><mark>Chapter 11<br></mark></strong>1. Mrs. Dubose taunts Jem and Scout about their mother. Since Scout was young when her mother died she was does not remember her but Jem does and he gets mad to the point where he takes Scout baton and ruins Mrs. Dubose's flowers.<br>2. As a punishment for Jem's actions Mrs. Dubose says Jem has to read to her for two hours everyday after school and on Saturdays. The reason for this is because Mrs. Dubose&nbsp; is addicted to painkillers andnshe uses Jem reading to her as a distraction.<br><br><strong><mark>Chapter 12</mark></strong><mark><br></mark>1. Scout and Jem go to church with Calpurnia. The church people are surprised that Calpurnia brings white children to the church but they do not make any comments because they realize who the children are and the sacrifice that Atticus is making by defending a black man.<br>2. The kids notice the Calpurnia speaks differently at church then she does at home. The reason for this is because Calpurnia is educated unlike her fellow church goers, and to not offend them at church she changes the way she speaks to to "colored talk"<br><br><strong><mark>Chapter 13<br></mark></strong>1. Aunt Alexandra comes to stay with the kids because she feels they need a more feminine touch in the house<br>2. Alexandra tries to dominate the household and suggests that Atticus fires Calpurnia but he is completely rejects that idea.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 10- Miss Maudie tells Jem and Scout that,<br>as a young man, Atticus was the best shot in the county—“One-shot Finch.<br>-Scout is eager to brag<br>about this, but Jem tells her to keep it a secret, because if Atticus wanted them to know, he would<br>have told them.<br><br>Chapter 11-<br>Atticus warns Jem to be a gentleman to her, because she is old and sick, but one day she tells the children that Atticus is not any better than the “niggers and trash he works for,” and Jem loses his temper.<br>-As punishment, Jem must go to her house every<br>day for a month and read to her. Scout accompanies him and they endure Mrs. Dubose’s abuse and<br>peculiar fits, which occur at the end of every reading session.<br><br>Chapter 12-Calpurnia decides to take the children to her church, a “colored” church, that Sunday. Maycomb’s black church is an old building, called First Purchase because it was bought with the first earnings of freed slaves.<br><br>-By this time, jem has reached the age of twelve, and he begins to demand that scout “stop pestering him” and act more like a girl.&nbsp;<br><br>Chapter 13-Aunt Alexandra explains that she should stay with the children for a while, to give them a “feminine influence.” Maycomb gives her a fine welcome: various ladies in the town bake her cakes and have her over for coffee, and she soon becomes an integral part of the town’s social life.&nbsp;<br>-Jem and Scout lack the pride that Aunt Alexandra considers commensurate with being a Finch. She orders Atticus to lecture them on the subject of their ancestry. He makes a valiant attempt but succeeds only in making Scout cry.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Chapter 10&nbsp;<br>1. Atticus is older than most fathers in Maycomb, rather than hunting and fishing he reads.<br><br>2. "One-shot Finch" was a nickname for Atticus which Ms. Maudie tells them.&nbsp;<br><br>Chapter 11<br>1. Scout's a grown-up second-grader, tormenting Boo Radley seems like little kid stuff. She's setting her sights beyond the neighborhood to the metropolis of downtown Maycomb.<br><br>2. Then an alarm clock goes off, and Mrs. Dubose's servant Jessie shoos them out of the house, saying it's time for Mrs. Dubose's medicine.<br><br>Chapter 12<br>1. Jem's hit the middle school years, and everyone knows what that means: he's angsty, moody, prone to prolonged silences broken by angry outbursts<br><br>2. With Atticus away, Calpurnia doesn't trust Jem and Scout to go to church by themselves.<br><br>Chapter 13<br>1. Scout has trouble making any kind of conversation with her aunt.</div><div><br>2.  Scout mostly ignores her aunt, unless she gets called in to make an appearance at a luncheon or tea.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
