    He was known to be quite a good student, and he played varsity basketball. However, Barack admitted his involvement in particular drugs and alcohol such as marijuana and cocaine. 
    For his freshman and sophomore years, he attended Occidental College, LA. Later on he went to Columbia University, New York City. 
    He had a keen interest in political and international affairs which led him to graduate from Columbia in 1983 with a major in political science.
