As our district-wide implementation of HMH continues, we remain committed to addressing your feedback and concerns.  One challenge for bridge teachers is their ability to navigate multi-grade curriculum within the  implementation expectations of NYC Reads. To support bridge teachers, we partnered with  key stakeholders of our instructional community (ex: bridge teacher, ELA coach, ELA Implementation Specialist, AIS teacher, District Achievement Instructional Specialist, and Specialized Student Support Lead) and our partners at HMH. 

During our session we developed an exemplar HMH Bridge Pacing Calendar for grades 1 and 2, utilizing a Backward Design planning model for the next module projected for mid-November implementation. This pacing calendar will support teachers with the implementation of tier 1 core instruction, while addressing the specific needs of Students with IEPs. Allowing for students from each grade within the bridge class to be assessed with their respective grade’s end of module assessments. 

This document was created to be user friendly with bridge teachers in mind. We linked ED resources, aligned the modules according to correlating skills in each grade and named high leverage teaching moves for instruction.
