In Week 5, we have been introduced to the knowledge on page design, the do's and the don't's and how to make a page readable and pleasing to the eye.

To test your understanding, you are required to find a story page in a local newspaper of 2017. Similar to the previous task, select one page that has more than one story. Take a picture and share on padlet what do you think about the page design. Is it good or bad? What would you suggest to make it more attractive?

And the page format also use a rectangular format for the biggest story.

Next , this article use a buttling headlines where as consists differents sizes of headlines, differents sizes of fonts, differents sizes of story. The first story has the biggest headlines and the next has gone smaller . And the biggest sizes of story will attract the readers to read the story.

For me, for overall this design is not very good because the headlines can make a confuse in readers . But it still can attract the readers to read this article.

This is because every story on this page was included with colored images and it leads to be called the page with art. However, this page designer also applying boxing stories by using the colour of purple to differentiate from other stories and butting headline on the top of this page which is bigger than other headlines. The stories on this page were in rectangular shapes are known as a modular page design. There are 4-columns that were used in this page. Not to forget, for suggestion it would look better if the designer avoid bad breaks in the future because there were few words that turns from one column to another and trim the text because it looks so crowded.

This page used vertical and horizontal lines of grid. The type of grid used in this page is tabloid grid. In my opinion, the page is designed nicely. It has proper arrangement of each elements in the page. It does not confused the reader and easily to read. Besides that, this page consist of five column grids. This page also enhances the pages with difference size of art. The art helps the reader to avoid from being bored to read the news. In addition, the story that the designer want to highlight is being placed in the middle with dominant picture and bigger headline compared to the other story. It helps the reader to know which story is the most important. The designer helps to enhance the story by boxing the stories with more greyish colour. Furthermore, it has good modular design as everything is arranged in rectangular units. This page consist of nine modular designs. I think it is a good page design as it is attractive and does not causing confusion. The sizes of headlines used are different with each other as the strongest story has the biggest headline. It can be seen that the designer used boxing stories by applying blue and black colours of background to differentiate the story from other stories and also butting headline that had been inserted in the top story. Other than that, the page design also keeps all story shapes in rectangular known as modular page design. It helps the page design looks neater and tidier. My suggestion is it would be better if the pictures at the bottom are placed vertically and inside the box so that it would not affect the text beside it.

In my opinion, this newspaper has a good and interesting page designs. For me, it is interesting and attractive because it is a page with art because it keeps all the stories in rectangular shapes and consists of dominant image. This newspaper is tabloid newspaper which consist of 6 columns grids. The size of the headlines used also different and as we can see the news on the top used a biggest headline. Overall, I think this page is a good page designs and can attract readers to read the whole story.

I said that because of what we can see where the strongest story goes at the top. Beside, the lead story also have the biggest headline. Next, the article with title "Syed Saddiq dicabar buktikan pendakwaan" goes as smaller article where the designer move down the article at the page. This page also differ in terms of the size of the headline so that readers can detect where the main story easily. Another thing is, the designer use a boxing stories where the designer give a visual emphasis to telling the readers about the different between the stories.

From what we can see here is that the main story is placed concisely at the middle of the page that comes with the biggest headline in order to catch the attention among readers and also to gain attention for the readers to read other stories at the top and the bottom of it. Besides that, this newspaper is a tabloid newspaper and same as the other normal tabloid newspaper, this page consists of five-column format grid. Then, this page also contains many arts including some dominant photos and a couple of mugshots while it keep all story in a rectangular shapes and it also using the modular page design where the modules has been arranged in rectangular units of stories. From what we can see here is that this page contains 4 rectangular units of stories. The biggest headline is the main story whereas putted on the top of page. The page designer also kept all story in rectangular shape but with variety of sizes. There also has modular design have 5 modules for each 5 stories. There were two stories that too short story so the designer had fitted it by adding liftout quote, adding a mugshot and enlarging a photo. In my opinion, this page is clean but weak design because there too little photo that be provided on each story. As we can see in this page, the story at the upper part consist of headline and hammer along the text that was written horizontally in five columns. The headline was written in biggest size which can capture reader’s attention even though the story covered without art. While the next story which in the middle part of the page is in the U-shaped text block which also came up with one horizontal photo that can appearing the emotion of the story. There were drama captured behind the photo which make the story more attractive, so do the sidesaddle cutline is not too narrow as written vertically along the photo. The story also have the quote at the top of last column from the story. Unfortunately, the information about the story which came in timeline were put below the story may confusing the reader about which story do the information belong to? This is because directly beside the timeline is another story covered which no relation to the information that has given. The timeline should be in the same box of its own story, or at least not at the bottom of the story. I think that this story is short so it has several photos to make the story fit. Even though there are so many photos, there is a dominant photo at the above to attract readers to read the story. The page is also designed with a large and bold headline to emphasize the story is worth to read. The front page has 6 modules which are in rectangular units and it called as modular design. It has one Ads at the right top of the front page and another one at the bottom. It also contains teaser that will make the readers easy to know the stories inside the newspaper. Overall, this page design is interesting and will attract the readers to read it.
